I really like how this small book ties a lot so much of all the books together and adds a massive layer to this story.

Although he definitely would've preferred Zeus' position had he had the choice, With Hades ultimately becoming the outcast of the family, he becomes what he is made out to be: a villain. Hades was happy, happier than he had ever been, and he wondered if they deserved such a delicious ending, but he didn’t care. Not sure why she did it but Pflanze was actually Hecate goddess of witchcraft and belongs in the underworld. I'm a huge Hercules fan and Hades is one of my favourite Disney characters so this really did hit the spot for me. I had hoped that it was just in the beginning and I needed to settle into the book and it would get better, but no.
The book links to previous villain stories within the series and tells Hade's story not just from the author's viewpoint but also from the character's view. I get that the mythology version and the Disney version of him are very different but that didn’t work for me. It all just happened so fast and there wasn’t much of a fight and I feel like the odd sisters would have been so mad that Hades took the original Circe.
So, don’t let that sway you, except that I do think a basic understanding of the Disney story helps a lot in this series. He was rather one note from beginning to end which I found such a shame because there are so many directions you can go with Hades and still be successful in getting his character bang on. I can tell that there were many connections between this book and others in the Disney villain series, particularly with The Odd Sisters, but it didn’t impact my ability to understand or enjoy the book. Lucinda was finally taking her revenge on Circe and a dragon came to life then Hades goes boop you’re dead along with the wraiths.
