It is impossible to even say, “The Battle of Helm’s Deep” aloud without conjuring images from Peter Jackson’s incredible cinematic visuals of mayhem and battle. But not only is the main gate part of the set, so is the exploding wall, the Beserker, his Olympic-flame torch and Sauruman’s hidden gunpowder in-a-bomb-at-the-hidden-stream trick; all of this in a separate packet.

The real challenge for for future LEGO set (well, for me for LEGO, I am sure LEGO isn’t going to take this on) is to see if any can displace this one’s display spot. The first movie, The Fellowship of the Ring, will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of its release in December. LEGO faced the daunting task of bringing that movie sequence to life in a toy in a way that would be true to the film, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and yet work as a play set. Helm’s Deep stands alongside the Shire, Minas Tirith, Rivendell, and the fortress of Isengard as one of The Lord of the Rings’ most iconic locations. The pieces were put together loosely so that the blow will create a large hole for Uruks to charge in.Now they are all suited up, Theoden is holding a shield and a standard sword in this theme, and an amazingly detailed printed armor.

You can't find them elsewhere but there would be quite a lot of extras as quite a lot of people purposefully bought 2-3 sets or more to make a very big Helm's Deep castle. From left Theoden, Aragorn, Haldir, Gimli, Uruk Hai without armor, Berserker Uruk Hai, and 2 Armored Uruks. I can't personally say if this is the very best of the Lord of the Ring sets, since this is the only one I've purchased so far. Bags 1 and 2 construct the entrance, bag 3 constructs the stairs and the left rounded corner, bag 4 the right rounded corner. I would say that is age appropriate, given the number of pieces and the amount of time it takes to construct.

Upon finishing book number 2 which is bag 3 and 4, you have the runway for Uruks to charge in, and the two curved walls at both sides of the gate. This site is maintained and updated by fans of The Lord of the Rings and the name and mark ONE RING is used under license from Middle-earth Enterprises, LLC an Embracer Group company, which hold the title thereto. While this set is modular and sections can be removed, you won't want to display anything but the entirety of it all! Looking back I only wish they had also included Eowyn in the set knowing she never appeared anywhere else.
