It looks pretty similar to the Leagues of Votann army box with two main changes. First, they took out the second squad of warriors and the other character. Replacing that is 5 Berserks (including the mole cannon option). Of the 25 miniatures in the Orks Combat Patrol, 24 were brand new on the set’s release, including 20 new Ork Boyz, three Deffkoptas, and a Warboss in mega-armour. The Deff Dread isn’t a new sculpt, but is as shooty and stompy as ever.

Each story can be bought separately as they release, but to get all five for the price of four, opt for the full-week subscription. So is this Combat Patrol worth it? If you missed out on the Leviathan box and want those Space Marines I think it’s probably worth it. That said…I don’t know how competitive this Combat Patrol really is. The Space Marines DID lose the campaign and these models were featured in it. Kind of a sad state of things when your Terminators and freakin’ Flamer marines couldn’t kill a bunch of lightly armored Tyranids…(and I say that as a Tyranid player). To keep things balanced, the weapons options for the units have been fixed for all the Combat Patrol datasheets, so there’s no need to fret about your character and unit equipment prior to a game. You don’t need to worry about which guns to give your Chaos Space Marine Havocs, for example. Second, the Combat Patrol versions of each faction’s datasheets army rules are different from their main Index. Datasheets are simpler, and armies have access to different Stratagems, and enhancements. Personally, I would have rather GW swapped out the Infernus Marines for the Sternguard and just made this a “First Company” box or something. Now that would have been an interesting Combat Patrol! Now moving to more exclusively Daemon models, this new combat patrol is a great start for any fans of Khorne’s Daemonic forces.
