It also has very limited rotation compared with all the other wheels here, turning just 270 degrees rather than 900 or 1080.

When switching over to the GT DD Pro, everything becomes elevated. I’m using the 8Nm version of the GT DD Pro for this comparison, giving it an advantage over the Thrustmaster wheel. This vibration emulates the feel of different road surfaces, relaying with the wheel what, in real life, you’d feel all over your body. It adds an extra level of immersion, emulating the bumpiness of tarmac versus scrub. It also ensures there are virtually no ‘quiet moments’ when the Thrustmaster T-GT’s motors are doing nothing at all. There are two major flies swimming in the T-GT ointment. The first is the pedal set. This is essentially the same setup you’ll find in the T300RS, which retails for half the cost of the T-GT. The plastic base is a fairly minor issue, and the pedals themselves are solid chunks of metal. The majority of this steering wheel is constructed from plastic which immediately makes it feel a little less premium than some other Fanatec wheels. Like the T-GT II wheel, there is a large GT logo right in the center, just so you don’t forget which game you should be playing! Racing wheels such as the Logitech G923 and Thrustmaster T248 both scrape towards becoming a mid-range racing wheel. However, they both offer relatively entry-level experiences which keep them firmly in with other budget-friendly racing wheels.

The compatibility of both products is a relatively easy category to judge. The Thrustmaster T-GT II is compatible with PC, PS4 and PS5. It’s also compatible with a range of steering wheel and pedal options. The T-GT feels like a quality item. Unfortunately, you can’t smell it from this pic… Quality & Finish – The direct drive wheel base gives Fanatec a huge advantage that outperforms the Thrustmaster T-GT II. And the sheer number of upgrade options makes the Fanatec ecosystem more appealing than Thrustmaster’s currently. Initially, it feels strange. If this were any other wheel, you might think something was broken thanks to the odd buzzing sensation. What makes T-DFB so impactful is its near-constant nature, though. After a few laps, it worms its way into your muscle memory, with subtle variations — complemented by the traditional FFB — informing you of what’s going on at the surface level.
