About this deal

I know. I wish I could have raised you. But I've loved you even though I couldn't be with you. With this, your ninth life, I give you love. The love a mother gives her kits. Your Clanmates are your kits now. Their safety depends on your strength. You must fight for them without fear or pity. Solid four stars, I guess? This book was so weird. I can’t organize my thoughts, honestly. It was simultaneously extremely disappointing and actually really interesting at the same time. It feels like the book spends the entire time saying the clans are bad but also the clans are the best, perfect, ONLY way to live. . . The message, if there was any, about clan life was completely lost in my opinion. It feels like the writers wanted to explore the fact that clan life isn’t perfect in this book, but they ended up losing all the nuance of that argument along the way. To make it worse, River Ripple, or Riverstar, I guess, pretty much stopped being interesting and unique as soon as he got his nine lives. After his nine lives ceremony, his character and everything he’d learned was flung out the window. His relationship with Finch was SO rushed and written poorly, even by Warriors standards. Skystar’s development also completely disappeared at the end of the book, and almost all of the conflict was just conflict for conflict’s sake. . . Which Riverstar recognized until he just didn’t anymore. *sigh* Firestar • Graystripe • Yellowfang • Cinderpelt • Spottedleaf • Sandstorm • Cloudtail • Bluestar • Tigerstar • Scourge Blurb A thrilling standalone adventure in Erin Hunter's #1 nationally bestselling Warriors series! In this Super Edition, discover the origins of the first leader of RiverClan—a mysterious cat whose desire for peace would help shape the dawn of the warrior Clans. When a storm-tossed river sweeps Ripple away from the park he's always known, he commits himself to the life of a peaceful loner. Still, as his new island home starts to become a sanctuary for other rogues, he can't help but feel responsible for their safety, and for the community—and Clan—they are beginning to build. But when an old friend from the park resurfaces with terrible news just as the forest cats' fights begin to escalate into bloodshed, the cat now known as Riverstar will have to decide which home he is truly committed to protecting: his new Clan or his old family. Join the legion of fans who have discovered the epic adventures, fierce warrior cats, and the wild fantasy world of the mega-bestselling Warriors series. This stand-alone entry is perfect for new readers and dedicated fans alike. The praise "Feeding, feuding, and fan service: sure to please the felines’ legion of followers." Dead Person Conversation: The spirits of the recently-deceased cats appear after the battle at The Four Trees, as well as in a dream to the leaders not long afterward.

Clean Pretty Reliable: After going over the waterfall, Drizzle isn't breathing. Finch performs a feline version of CPR, pushing on her chest, and Drizzle is okay, just weak, after coughing up a little water. yup. That's it. This is 3 years too late for anyone to care about Slash and no one wanted or cared if Riverstar takes a mate. Cabin Fever: River Ripple remarks that the kits have "camp fever" from having to stay in camp due to the cold, and that they need to stretch their legs. As Gray Wing died, he renamed the groups "Clans". River Ripple likes the word, since it means "family" and what he's trying to build with the cats he lives with. Not only is he already a very impressive character, but he’s the most underrated of the five founders; he’s the only who doesn’t : Whether you’re a fan of derby racing, animal games or pet horses, your exciting horse simulation journey begins with Rival Stars Horse Racing. I went into this with extremely low expectations because the Erins often ruin characters in their super editions. I was pleasantly surprised for the first half of the book i enjoyed it a lot I was really happy with it. However my newly found hopes were CRUSHED to dust as the book DRASTICALLY took a turn for the worse, ruined Riverstar's character by scrapping almost everything that made him unique and interesting, somehow wrote in extremely boring plots and a whole traveling arc that was pointlessly long and then introduced a mate for him 24 chapters into the book that has the personality of a leaf. He is resting. He's earned it. With this life, I give you unity, so that RiverClan may never be divided.

In his bio for The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded Edition, Riverstar is listed with dark gray fur. [41] I mostly enjoyed this book. I wish that there was lesss retelling of the events that happen in DOTC books and more of park cats and life in the park and I wish that we got more from Riverstar in general but I liked the book I guess. Speaking of the journey to the park, I disliked those scenes in particular. A lot of the travel scenes felt boring and unnecessary, and the way that the cats describe human structures can be charming and quirky, but in this case felt excessive and disorienting. I couldn't picture what they were climbing or why when they were somehow trying to go above a Twoleg tunnel carved in the mountain. Not to mention, the mall and drive-through restaurant (if I understood those descriptions correctly) are out of place for the time period of Dawn of the Clans, which the authors have discussed outside of the books. Turtle Tail was supposedly run over by a Ford Model T, so we should still be in the 1920s. Why did the misadventures involving Twolegs feel so modern in this super edition, decades ahead of their time? My biggest issue concerning this book, though, isn't specifically about this novel but rather about the current direction of bland conformity that the recent Super Editions seem to be taking. Honestly, I'd much rather read a "bad" book that took risks and tried fun things than an "okay" book that didn't.There were a few things I enjoyed about this book, of course: Night and Riverstar's friendship (as opposed to his romantic relationships, which all felt extremely forced and utterly unnecessary) was surprisingly well written, and Drizzle grew a lot on me throughout the story. And yet it's easy to find things you like in a book that's otherwise full of... nothing. This feels like a Fanfiction. There are moments when Riverstar seems like someone's OC and they put him in the already-existing story, you know what I mean? I feel like this should have been a novella and not a super edition. It would get boring at certain parts and I felt like I enjoyed the side characters more than Riverstar himself! I felt the trip to his old parkmates camp was pointless and the “development” of him and Finch was nonexistent. It seemed that Slash was gonna be a bigger threat but he's in two chapters then dies. Talking in Your Dreams: All of the leaders share a dream with each other to meet with the spirit-cats. I call upon my warrior ancestors [...] to look down on this apprentice. With no mother to guide her, she has been raised by the Clan, and it is with special pride that we watch her today pass from apprentice to warrior. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior of RiverClan. Leopardpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?

The worst part of this is the fact that River Ripple apparently DIDNT LEARN TO SWIM UNTIL BOOK 2 OF DAWN OF THE CLANS. This guy, with his supposed great connection to the river, had to be taught to swim by Night. What. Why. I would've preffered if, say, RR had always taken an interest in water, perhaps learning to swim at the park. You were our stepping stone. But you will be so much more. With this life, I give you a wise, nurturing heart so that you may support and encourage your Clan and, one day, your kits. Then, by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Leopardpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Leopardfur. StarClan honors your determination, your independence, and your loyalty, and welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan. Secrets of the Clans • Cats of the Clans • Code of the Clans • Battles of the Clans • Enter the Clans • The Ultimate Guide • The Warriors Guide • The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded Edition What makes Riverstar worthy to be a leader with the other leaders of the Clans and how can he get them to respect his leadership as an outsider?
