About this deal

Yes it does but I think you'll find that if you wind back to before the point the stuttering started, and play, the stuttering will start again at the same point. I will concede that my solution is destructive of data but would argue that a PVR is inherently more about time-shift than it is about long term storage of masses of media.

The PVR-9300T boasts a 320GB hard-disk, which is double the capacity of the PVR-9200T and is rather generous by usual PVR standards. For only a small amount extra, the PVR9300T packs in much more storage, but it is the HDMI and optical outputs that make it a real winner for us. options to avoid recording the news programme that some channels put in the middle of films and, if you schedule recordings that overlap, the Humax will suggest other times, days and channels where the programme you want is repeated.

But after keeping the 9200T on life support with firmware updates and seeing rival manufacturer Topfield snatch its crown with the superb TF5810PVRt, Humax has finally burst back onto the scene with two new models, the 160GB PVR-9150T and top-spec PVR-9300T. Advanced features like split programme recording mean you can get around the news in the middle of a film with no problems. When not exploring consumer tech, Chris can be found riding his bike - and gathering all the data for later examination. These extra connection options allow you to connect the 9300 to your television using a superior HDMI cable and also connect the player to a home cinema amplifier using an optical cable so you can benefit from surround sound.

Alternate instance recording alerts you when recordings clash and lets you know when the programme is being repeated.

They’re joined by composite video and stereo audio outputs, plus an optical digital audio output that can send a Dolby Digital bitstream to an AV receiver. The PVR comes with a remote control which is quite tall, but easy to use and well laid out, and has a slide down flap on the bottom to allow access to less frequently used buttons. Connected the 9300 to the TV via HDMI and switched on the TV, plugged in the aerial to the 9300 then plugged into the mains and switched on. We don't as a general policy investigate the solvency of companies mentioned (how likely they are to go bust), but there is a risk any company can struggle and it's rarely made public until it's too late (see the Section 75 guide for protection tips).
