About this deal

There could have been more information about some of the worries that the other characters have, it is helpful to see that for example Mum and Dad also have worries but this could have been talked about more. There are lots of worries in the bag but none are talked about in too much detail, it would have been good to maybe name and explore some in a bit more detail at the end to help with sorting them into groups. It's probably taken a lot of courage to even mention it to you so you need to make them feel as comfortable as possible about continuing the conversation: Arts and Culture: Taking part in arts and culture can help improve your mental health because it helps you to relax, express who you are and improve confidence and self-esteem through drama, literature, music and art. This Worry Monster Craft Activity is a lovely addition to the Twinkl Original story, 'The Making of Milton'.

If you’re feeling crafty, making a Worry Worm is a great way to help your children open up about their emotions. My favourite part of the book is when Jenny figures out how to deal with her bag of worries, the end of the story gives lot of brilliant ideas about how we can all treat our worries. If the children want to try some meditation, they could use the You Tube Floating Bubble Meditation - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxcJ8y7RcjU Being able to write their worries down and leave them there is a skill that will really help children as they develop and generally helps worries to not bubble up into a huge problem.

Doing thislovely craft activity is both fun and therapeutic for children. Being able to anonymously discuss different worries from the display with the rest of the class will reassure them that they're not alone. Let your child ask you questions too. Be honest with them about how you feel about certain subjects and let them know about things that have happened to you in the past. It may be that they want to talk about a friend who's depressed or frightened because of bullying. Or it could be about something they've done themselves like sexting or trying alcohol.

Familiarize yourself with the Bible story in the passage Luke 10.38-42, which is about Jesus visiting the home of Mary and Martha. You can either use the version of the story given in the ‘Assembly’, Step 7, or retell the story in your own words. Encourage the children, with an adult, to make their own bubbles. A recipe can be found here with good instructions on how to make a bubble wand - https://wredtedart.com/bubble-recipe/?cn-reloaded=1 Explain to your class that our worries sometimes feel like a big monster but by talking and writing them down, they aren't so scary anymore. We've all been on the receiving end of a difficult conversation. But that doesn't make it any easier when you have to have one with your child. For the parents of deaf and hard-of-hearing children, this step-by-step guide offers hundreds of ideas and methods that work with children aged 3 to 12. It provides play activities to help parents enhance communication, solve problems and strengthen relationships in skilful, fun ways. Let them know that they can trust you to keep their confidence and that you want them to always feel they can talk to you, other people they trust or organisations like Childline, when anything is worrying them.
