About this deal

I really liked the diary layout of the book, but I found the writing basic and non descriptive sometimes.

My Mad Fat Diary: A Memoir - Rae Earl - Google Books

Bamshad Abedi-Amin as Karim Bouchtat, the Tunisian undocumented immigrant boyfriend, and later husband, of Rae's mum. Davies, Sophie (21 January 2013). "Rae Earl on My Mad Fat Diary". The Daily Telegraph. London . Retrieved 23 January 2013. Thank heavens for Earl’s brand of wisdom, I suggest, which makes her shriek then laugh long and loud. “Louisa. My head’s like a mad omelette!” she tells me. I can still hear her laughing when we hang up the call. You need to go into this book separating it from the TV show. The show is sheer brilliance and the people reading this book because of it clearly agree or you wouldn't be making the effort. The book is the diary of a teenage girl - a 17 yo girl at that. We're all the centres of our own universe at that age. She is like her dad, Rooney says: funny but with her head screwed on. When her gran was dying, she left the set of Two Doors Down, a comedy pilot that’s now, years later, being made into a series for the BBC. “The director sat me down and said, ‘Will you regret this if you don’t go?’ I said yes. She said, ‘Well you have our blessing.’ They were great about it, but I’d have gone even if they hadn’t been. I’d have gone even if I was working with Meryl Streep. Nothing is more important than your family – ever.” I love Sharon Rooney's portrayal of 'me' (pictured). She and I haven't spoken or met, quite deliberately, because I wanted her to create her own version of Rae. She has created such a wonderful Rae, and I can absolutely see a lot of me in it. I can see a lot of differences too. She has brought something really warm and wonderful to that character. I think she's fantastic. I'm absolutely thrilled, I watched the first episode and I was just blown away. I think it's funny, I think it's touching, I think it's sad, I think people will relate to it, I think they'll laugh at it, I just think it's saying something that's not been said before, it's touching on subjects that haven't been touched on before, and I am really proud to be associated with it, I really, really am. Earl lives in the Australian city of Hobart and is married to Kevin Johnson. They have a son named Harry.

I needed to let off steam pretty much religiously every day! There might be four or five entries in one day, and maybe just one in another. There was also a separate book of poetry, and several sheets of paper with just random rants on as well. I wouldn't necessarily take my diary to school, so I'd need to get a bit of paper and rant on that. So sometimes there was a little bit and sometimes there was a lot.The third contender is Karim, Rae’s mum’s boyfriend played by Bamshad Abedi-Amin. In series one, Rae’s mum is helping to hide Karim from the immigration authorities, and Rae is understandably sceptical about his intentions. Over time, though, Karim (who I originally thought was nothing more than a humorous side-strand) really grows into an interesting and engaging character. After school I went to Hull University to study English Literature – which I LOVED. At that point the government actually still gave you money to study – so I GOT PAID to READ BOOKS for 3 years. I then worked in radio for 15 years. Firstly as the person who makes the adverts (all those annoying jingles that stay in your head for DAYS – that’s me!) Secondly as a breakfast presenter. I got to interview lots of famous boy bands and once nearly broke Cheryl Cole’s chair on stage. We don’t talk about that. I got in trouble. I’ve always written things but most of them were actually slightly rubbish. Or they were about people and I never wanted them to see it. I don’t think I was any good at writing till I was 35 and that was after a lot of practice. Rachel Earl (born 13 December 1971) is an English writer and broadcaster. She is best known as the author of the 2007 book My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary, a collection of the diaries she wrote as a teenager which was later adapted into the E4 comedy-drama series My Mad Fat Diary (2013–2015) Al comienzo se me hizo una lectura bastante pesada, no podía conectar con la historia ni con Rae, a pesar de que empatizaba totalmente con ella. Además las entradas son, en su mayoría, cortas, y yo soy más predilecta a los capítulos largos. Pero, en la mitad del libro, me empezó a interesar más la trama con la aparición de un nuevo interés romántico.
