Just so happens that i have a pair of original mirror guards in white for a long arm mirror removed from my X250 , not sure if the X290 is the same mirror but drop me a PM if there of interest to you. I would add that they're a tight fit and and you need to be careful fitting them because they're held in place by two very small self tapping screws. Don't get it right first time and I think you could be in trouble. I'm waiting for the day when they'll hopefully they'll prove their worth coz it is going to happen. Under no circumstances should these protectors be polished with resin based polishes designed for cars painted surfaces. I bought these mirror covers over "the other ones" as l was more interested in showing on coming vehicles the width of motorhome. These do that job perfectly making them much better value for money. They're made out of heavy duty plastic and are very easy to fit but do have small screws! I think they would offer some protection from brushing against a hedge row or a clash of mirrors from an on coming vehicle.
