About this deal

We had the grand national boardgame to but that was to much messing around as to !any horses and not many people wanted play it I can understand it, but I'm one of those players who doesn't mind when the game goes against me. It's not a three-hour mental marathon. You're betting on horses and trying to influence the odds, but there are no gurantees.

The game essentially takes the skulduggery and cheating that goes on in real life horse races and applies it to a board game, making for an interesting and often bad-tempered experience for the players. How to be Nasty You start the game with a stable of horses numbered from one to six, with one being the fastest. During the race the players move their horses around the board, either trying to reach the finish line before the others or attempting to make sure the horse they bet on finishes first. How fast a horse moves depends on their grade, which is assigned at the beginning of the race and gives them a certain amount of leeway with dice roles, also giving players clues on who to bet on depending on the size of the stakes. Grades revolve with each subsequent race, so every horse gets to be the fastest horse at least once. The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game is a competitive betting game for 2-6 players. The player that wins the most money over the course of the six rounds, each round consisting of a single race, is the winner, and money can be earned either by a player’s horse finishing among the top three at the end of the race, or by placing a bet on the winning horse. At the beginning of each race the players must decide whether to bet on their own horse or another. The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game has been around a while, having been on the market since 1987. It was one of the first board games I ever played, and nearly caused my uncle and aunt to divorce while arguing over the rules during one memorable Christmas.I am extremely competitive, think monopoly for frustration and competitiveness and times that by 10, this game really did bring the worst out it me. The first edition, if you can find it, is the best. It has the big whiteboard on an stand for the odds. Newer editions you're supposed to just write it on the board. Also, the earlier ones have miniatures, new ones have these kind of weird flat plastic stand-ups. I can never convince enough people to play the Grand National board game with me, however whenever I have played it; it’s always been a blast, with or without house rules (the forums on BGG are a great source of alternative playing styles). I’ve done Becher Chases and Foxhunters too! Welcome to The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game--the game designed to stimulate your worst instincts and get you to use cunning and deviousness to your best advantage.

This game is more fun than Winner's Circle (by quite a bit) and even Long Shot (which I like...but takes too long). We also had escalade but that was nightmare turning the handle thing to make horses move across sheet on flat unitConjure up your most devious plan as your main goal and objective is to win as much money as you can at the races and the good thing about this, there are a couple of ways to do this. There are things to watch: long shots can pay off hugely and if someone bets high they can really get ahead - you have to keep in mind which race is being run for how much prize money, who has how much funds they are likely to bet and trying to stop them if you can. I'm not sure that a runaway leader can be stopped once they pull off a huge bet. But they call it a long shot for a reason. We are a passionate community of over 55,000 horse racing fans, commentators and industry professionals.

You can even buy a set that allows you to customise your Monopoly board to your own neighbourhood or your favourite TV show. Deluxe and Luxury There are so many questions to think about when playing this game. You need to have a game plan, be devious, manipulative and sneaky, the more cunning you can be, the better the game. Your horse will need to come first, second or third, but if you are anything like me, there is no competition as my ultimate goal was to make sure my horse came first.

Whilst the age range is 12 and over, I suggest being mindful at just how nasty, conniving, deceitful etc. people may get playing this game and if you are worried about upsetting any children playing, then you might not want the to join in. If like us, we did play with the grandchildren but did not play the nasty side of our strategies and was far less cunning. We wanted to the children to enjoy the game have some fun but also teach them about game plans and strategies without being too nasty or conniving.
