This door opens when an infrared sensor located on the front and sides of the bowl. The SureFeed bowl is suitable for small pets and cats. FEATURES When you change batteries, make sure to place the feeder in its final location and then turn the feeder on. This way the motion sensors can correctly calibrate ( the sensors need to readjust to their surroundings every time the bowl is moved). Note - this product is not designed for selective feeding, if you need to keep each pets food separate see the SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder.The SureFeed pet bowl requires 4x C batteries to operate and lasts approximately 6 months or longer. There is no option to use an AC adapter. This product can be used with the SureFlap Microchip Cat Door, the DualScan Microchip Cat Door or the Microchip Cat Door Connect. When mounting in glass, this accessory allows mounting in circular holes with a diameter of 8½" (min) to 10¼" (max). The total diameter of the mounting adaptor is 11⅛". Using the mounting adaptor for wall installations enables you to install the DualScan Microchip Cat Door more easily because you can use it to fix the cat door to the wall without the need for messy adhesives. The mounting adaptor is not required to install the Microchip Cat Door or the Microchip Cat Door Connect in a wall as these products contain wall mounting screw holes within the front frame. The Cat Door Mounting Adaptor includes two parts, one for the exterior and one for the interior of your home. Sensors: These are infrared motion sensors and they are located in front and top sides of the bowl. These sensors will detect any movement within their range.
