About this deal

The ValueTalks food flask is made from BPA free materials, just like the last one we looked at. It’s also designed to keep food hot or cold and will manage this for up to 12 hours. This means that it will keep food hotter for longer than the SHO but the SHO does manage up to 20 hours for cold foods so it really depends on what type of food you’ll be storing.

Best quality & features – The Thermos Stainless King Food Flask proves why Thermos are the standard when it comes to flasks. The durability and build are second to none, something which is exemplified by Thermos’ 50-year guarantee. Although not the largest flask here, the excellent heat retention times of up to 9 hours (hot) and up to 12 hours (cold) are among the best out there for a good-sized single portion of food. The colour options are a nice bonus, too. It’s lightweight and compact, with insulated walls that are designed to keep your food hot for 9 hours or cold for 14. For the kids’ lunchbox – The Food Flask from IGZOM is a great choice for kids thanks to a wide range of colourful and cheerful designs. It has plenty of volume (540ml) and heat retention capabilities (up to 6 hours hot) to keep food warm all the way to lunchtime and is compact enough to fit into a schoolbag without taking up too much room. Food Flask Buying GuideFor best results, please ensure that your food or liquid is heated sufficiently prior to insertion into your SHO Food Flask. Earlier, we talked about how most soup flasks are designed with a stay cool exterior but this isn’t always the case. You’ll want to choose a flask that doesn’t get hot to the touch on the outside as this can lead to burns and is a serious safety issue. Budget

Of course, one of the main reasons to buy a flask is to keep hot food hot. As such, heat retention is another of the most important factors to consider before buying. This heat retention time can vary hugely between around 4 hours, up to 12 hours and potentially even longer than that. This means that you have to factor in how, where and when you intend to use your flask. For single portions, a few hours is probably fine, but on longer expeditions with multiple meals, you’re naturally going to need one that’ll hold onto that heat for longer. You want something lightweight but you don’t want something that compromises durability for this. Therefore, it’s really essential to look at the materials and choose something with a good balance between the two. Flask Size Do not use your Food Flask to store or carry carbonated drinks or dry ice. The may cause the lid and/or stopper and contents to eject forcefully or leak. A soup flask is indispensable when you’re on the go and want to keep your food warm and ready to eat. They’re ideal for a wealth of situations like work, school, going to the gym and outdoor activities. But it’s important to look over the features so that you find a soup flask that exactly meets your needs. In testing, we found that the contents of the jar had cooled significantly by the end of the 6 hours. It was still warm to the touch, but you would probably want to reheat it depending on what you’re storing.

For best results, please pre-heat/pre-cool your SHO Food Flask with boiling water/ice cold water for 5-10 minutes.Fill and then close the lid.Empty after 10 minutes. Whatever it is you need from a flask, our buying guide is here to help you make a bit more sense of what you need in terms of the most essential criteria – after reading this, you should be absolutely sure which food flask is right for you. Capacity The leak-proof design also promises to keep your food hot for up to six hours or cold for up to eight. The vacuum flask also has a screw-top lid with a seal that helps to stop heat from escaping from the opening.

Of the food flasks we tested, we think the Thermos Stainless King food flask would be best for soups. Imagine putting a soup flask filled to the brim in your bag alongside your phone, notebooks and laptop only to reopen the bag to find the flask has leaked and your other items are ruined. That’s why it’s crucial to find a soup flask that has decent leak proofing and seals tightly. Does The Exterior Get Hot? The cylindrical jar has a wide base with a lid that’s coated in a grippy material that makes it much easier to unscrew. If the food inserted into your Food Flask is producing lots of steam, please let the steam evaporate before closing your Food Flask to avoid pressure build up.The amount of food you can get into your flask should be one of the main considerations you make when looking for the right food flask. Nobody knows your appetite and eating habits better than you do, so take a close look at the volumes of the flasks you’re considering and weigh that up against how much you’d be looking to carry. After all, it defeats the point somewhat if you can only fit half a lunch portion in what you’ve bought, or on the other end of the spectrum, buy one that’s too big and realise you’ve wasted money on flask volume you just won’t fill. Also bear in mind how many people you’re feeding – one large flask might feed two, if you’re going on a trip somewhere and are trying to economise on how much to take with you. Lid

We're extremely confident in our products quality & our aftercare service. Our Lifetime Guarantee which applies to every SHO product is a true representation of this faith. There are a couple of different ways a vacuum flask can keep the contents warm and it starts with the double-layered base. The SHO promises to keep your food hot for 10 hours or cool for 20 and it lived up to its promise for us. For hot food, it was noticeably cooler after 10 hours but still hot enough to eat without reheating. The only downside we could find was that the opening was a bit more tapered compared to some of the other options, which meant cleaning up wasn’t as straightforward. For kids, there are smaller capacity ones of around 300ml. These don’t weigh as much, will fit into lunch boxes and, as kids generally eat less, there’s nothing going to waste. Some flasks are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning really easy but it’s always best to wash it by hand if possible. However, the silky smooth stainless steel finish made tightening and loosening the lid much harder. On the plus side, this made cleaning it super easy - handy as it can’t go in the dishwasher.
