About this deal

The Nanlite Forza 300 II LED Spotlight is as remarkably compact and lightweight yet delivers 69400 Lux (6447.4 fc) at 1 meter with the included reflector. It was built for professional production with durable construction, control options for Bluetooth, 2.4G, and DMX/RDM, a glass-protected COB, a fully redesigned yoke, and a Control Unit that can run on AC or side-mounted V-Mount batteries (sold separately). It has a highly accurate CRI rating of 96 and a TLCI of 97, and lets you easily adjust the green-to-magenta shift by +/- 80, which is made possible by its W(RG) LED source.

Above you can see the output when it was set at 3200K with the standard reflector was 25,300 lx (3460 fc), which was 19.1% less than what it output at 5600K using the reflector. As I have mentioned numerous times before, versatile COB lights in this form factor have become increasingly popular due to their swiss army knife style abilities, which enable them to be used for a variety of lighting scenarios. This is why we have seen so many of them being introduced over the last few years and why there are so many options to choose from. Compact design for control box with power adapter incorporated inside, reducing the overall size of the Forza 300/300B II by 16% TRUST WHAT YOU SEE - Nanlite users praise the beautiful light our fixtures produce first and foremost, but the light from Forza 300 II doesn't just look good—it's accurate. With a CRI of 96 and TLCI of 97, you won't waste time in post fixing color issues. The Forza 300 LED from NanLite is a monolight style light fixture with remarkable light output for its size. Weighing only 5.5lbs (2.5kg), the Forza 300 employs a COB LED module to output 43060 Lux of 5600K daylight-balanced light at 1 metre. All while maintaining a high CRI/TLCI of 98/95, ensuring accurate colour rendition. Created to eliminate the difficulties of traveling with large light fixtures the Forza 300 weights only 5.5lbs (2.5kg) and is compact enough for most gear cases. This point-source light was made by a company that's been solely focused on LED lights for video production and photography for over 30 years. All of this experience is evident in the Forza 300B II. Above you can see the output when it was set at 3200K in the open face configuration was 10,800 lx (1000 fc), which was 17.5% less than the 13,100 lx it produced at 5600K. Nanlite lists a figure of 10,780 lx, so the result I got was almost identical to their claimed figure. This feature is not on our new Forza 300 II and 300B II Spotlights. The ability to fine-tune dimming in 0.1% increments is included in the top-of-the-line Forza 720 and 720B, and now it will also be present in the Forza 500 II and 500B II. This extra bit of control lets you truly dial-in the ideal amount of light for a scene.

When you mix with ambient light and other fixtures, adjusting the green-to-magenta shift lets the 300B II perfectly match. This is also useful when you want to achieve a specific look, but you need to tweak the color to get there. It's rare for a spotlight to have this feature, but you get it in Forza 300B II. FS-Series lights feature Bluetooth for direct control with the free NANLINK app for iOS and Android, and 2.4G for more control options. They have an integrated design with the control unit, power adapter, and lamp body all in one compact fixture, making them more lightweight with effective heat dissipation.

The Forza 60 II is claimed to be able to output 17,620lux @1m with its reflector being used. Conversely, the Forza 60B II is claimed to output 14,350lux @1m without is reflector being used. The lights also have a Maximum/Constant output mode and the Forza 60B II is CCT adjustable from 2700K to 6500K. Both fixtures have a CRI and TLCI rated at 96 and 98 respectively. The brightness of a light is important, but without colour accuracy, a ton of time and money will be lost in post-production. The Forza 300 features a CRI of 98 and a TLCI of 95 meaning you can shoot with confidence knowing the colour reproduction will be precise. Bowens Style Light Modifier Mount The LCD screen on the power supply/controller looks similar to what you would find on most of the Nanlite products. Although it is fairly basic, it does clearly show you key information about the light’s operating modes, brightness, CCT, etc. The control box has the power adapter incorporated inside, reducing the overall control unit size of Forza 300B II by 37%. There are V-mount battery plates on both sides of the control box. Nanlite doesn’t offer an AB Gold mount version, but you could buy a third-party Gold mount to V-mount conversion plates if required. Nanlite never made a Forza 500 light, and says that the choice to add the “II” to the product name is because it has the same advancements as the 60 II and 300 II series, but is more powerful.

BOWENS STYLE LIGHT MODIFIER MOUNT - By utilizing the near-universal Bowens style light modifier mount and incorporating an umbrella holder into the yolk, the FS-300 is compatible with a massive selection of light modifiers. Including, but not limited to, Nanlite's line of fresnels, softboxes, and umbrellas. The Forza 300 II and 300B II can output 69,400lx and 43,480lx respectively when used with their included reflectors @1m. This is a lot of output from lights that draw 350W. As a comparison, we independently tested the Aputure LS 300d II @1m using its Hyper Reflector and got a reading of 45,600lx. The Fl-20G's rotating barrel design enables beam angle adjustment from spot (10°) to flood (45°) with an intuitive twisting motion. This is the second-generation of this fixture and it's been improved in every regard. The Control Unit is 37% smaller, it gets 30% more battery life (batteries sold separately), it can run on a single V-Mount battery, and it doesn’t have a fan. The included cables are substantially longer: 19.8 feet (6 m) for the power cable, 9.8 feet (3 m) for the head cable, and even longer head cables are available separately. It's compatible with a vast number of Bowens Mount light modifiers, including Nanlite's own offerings. A useful 55° reflector is included, and with the FL-20G Fresnel (sold separately), output increases to 197000 Lux (18301.9 fc) at 1 meter. Dual 14.4V-14.8V batteries can be used simultaneously and both fixtures will also support single-battery power operation for fast power switching when the batteries are low. This innovation enables hot-plugging as well as hot swapping between AC/DC. With two 14.8V 160W batteries you can get just over an hour of run time when the fixture is set at 100% output. Both new Forza 300 II spotlights have USB-A ports so new features can be added in the future with firmware updates. These ports also output5V/0.5A so they can be used to power wireless DMX receivers. The original 300B had a USB port, but it did not supply power, so this is progress.
