About this deal

The logo is particularly important to me to get right (big design geek right here). It turns out there are a myriad of ways there to add this sharp logo to your broom: That could refer to the simple overriding of the First Years can't have them rule... But, given how much McGonagall grumbled about losing the Quidditch Cup before, I think she arranged it, either on her own, or as part of the normal process of getting a 'Replacement' broom for a worn out one. Of the two, I think getting the school (i.e., Dumbledore) to arrange it is most likely, given her personality. In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Ron Weasley is seen using a similar bipod to stabilise his stance while playing Keeper. This may be the intended function of the Firebolt's bipod. Carving the logo into the handle and painting it with gold paint ( I made a Nimbus 2000 for a birthday present on imgur)

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, it was mentioned that Ron's old Shooting Star was often outstripped by passing butterflies. Bluebottle: Advertised at the Quidditch World Cup in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. "A Broom for All the Family – safe, reliable and with Built-in Anti-Burglar Buzzer ..." Cut off about 1" from the end of the handle as shown in the second picture. Removing this little bit will allow more space for the tail shaft to slide further into the base, and it's too skinny to securely attach to the base anyway. But since they do look pretty cool, and have at least a little utility, here's an easy way to build them:Organised by Bloomsbury Publishing for the 2021 Harry Potter Book Night, [8] when the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child read aloud Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 5 ( Diagon Alley) together, Robin Cadet, the actor portraying Craig Bowker Junior in the Hamburg production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, also portrayed one of the boys admiring the Nimbus 2000 during Harry Potter's first trip to Diagon Alley. His lines were "Look, the new Nimbus 2000 – fastest ever – " [9] The Firebolt was first developed by Randolph Spudmore around 1993, at a time when brooms made by the Nimbus Racing Broom Company dominated the market. Twelve months after its release, the Firebolt was the highest-selling racing broom of that time, beating out the Nimbus 2000 and 2001. [1] Firebolts continued to be made in small quantities in the modern day, though their development was hindered by frequent strikes and walkouts on the part of the goblins who manufactured the iron parts. [1] Known owners [ ] Owners So we’ll be starting off on making our own brooms as part of our costumes. Hooray! Having perfect broom = priceless. Learning woodworking? We’ll see how it goes. Adding the Nimbus 2000 symbol to your broom When Harry fell off his Nimbus 2000 during a Quidditch match, it didn't fall to the ground but instead drifted away toward the Whomping Willow, [9] suggesting that it may have had some form of enchantment on it to keep it flying without a rider.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, it is mentioned that Ravenclaw's Quidditch team are all mounted on Cleansweep Sevens – with the possible exception of their Seeker, Cho Chang, who is mentioned in the next chapter as having a Comet Two Sixty. Drill pilot holes through the plywood and into the 2x4 side panels underneath. Countersink the holes so that even the most sensitive bottom won't feel any bumps from the screw heads. Do not screw the seat board to the base yet! On the other hand, the performance of a broom cannot depend exclusively on the magic imprinted on it by the maker. Neville or Hermione, for example, would not fly really well even on a Firebolt, so I guess it depends on the rider as well. Remember that something similar happens with wands, where a wand will not necessarily convey the same magic for two different witches or wizards, with the consequence of different results in spell-casting.

If anything doesn't line up, adjust the position of the seat to satisfy the three criteria above and ignore the guide lines. Cut off a triangle-shaped section at the base of the handle, as shown in the first picture. This will create a flat edge that is flush with the bottom of the base when then handle is at a 20-30 degree angle, making it easier and more stable for the rider to hold comfortably while flying. galvanized the broom world in 1967. Nothing like the Nimbus 1000 had ever been seen before. Reaching speeds of up to a hundred miles per hour, capable of turning 360 degrees at a fixed point in mid-air, the Nimbus combined the reliability of the Oakshaft 79 with the easy handling of the best Cleansweeps.

Harry is one of the few people for whom the first-years rule is broken; in his first-ever flying lesson, he does so well that Professor McGonagall places him in the Gryffindor house Quidditch team. As Seeker, he needs a better broom than the ones provided by the school, so he receives a Nimbus 2000, then one of the best brooms available. Some brooms are faster than others more or less for the same reason some wizards achieve better results than others when casting the same spells: they "have more" magic. This is already explained in @slytherincess answer. Three things to add: Slide the horizontal stabilizer into the notches and then slide the modified end of the tail shaft in between the side panels so it rests on top of the horizontal stabilizer. Adjust the tail shaft to angle down slightly, about 10-15 degrees, and clamp the base together as shown in the second picture.

The shape of my broom wasn't quite right in retrospect. The head of the broom should be a bit larger and have a flatter profile, almost coming to a point if seen from above like an oar or paddle. Easily rectified if I build another one. Secure the strap on both sides of the handle using 3/4" screws and finishing washers, as shown in the third picture. If you haven’t chosen bristles yet, I would highly recommend either thinner or greener branches, or dying broom straw to the right color. And maybe some industrial-strength glue. Or a fixing charm, yeah? Firebolt: In Harry's third year, his Nimbus 2000 is destroyed by the Whomping Willow. It is replaced by a Firebolt, which is a world-class broom; in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it is mentioned that the Irish National Quidditch team are all mounted on Firebolts. It is mentioned in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban that the Firebolt is capable of 0-150 mph (0-240Kph) acceleration in 10 seconds, which, for those interested in the physics, is approximately 0.7G. Additionally, as 150 mph is near terminal velocity for a falling human, the wind force on the rider at the broom's top speed could be about the same as his body weight. This may have something to do with the appearance of footrests on the brooms in the Harry Potter movies. In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Wood says that they should get Harry a Nimbus 2000 or a Cleansweep Seven, the implication being that these are about equal quality – top of the line for that model year.

The Firebolt is mentioned in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery during the first Flying Class. This is anachronistic, as the game is set during the 1980s. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as Draco Malfoy is making fun of the Gryffindors' brooms, he points out that the Twins' brooms, which are Cleansweep Fives, could be auctioned to raise money, and suggests a museum might like to bid on them. It is possible that they are only three years old at this point. Cut off a "short" length of rope that is about twice as long you will need between the chain and the nose hole, plus about 4' so you have enough to tie some loop knots and fine tune the height of the broom. And if you make a broom and it turns out even halfway worth sharing, I’d love to see pics. Happy broom making!

So I took an evening to make a vector version of the Nimbus 2000 logo. I wanted to share it with y’all as well so you can use it for making your own Nimbus 2000: You shouldn't forget the physics involved: aerodynamics, the density and lightness of the wood used, etc. This is also on the part of the maker. Maybe some of them have studied some basics of (muggle) physics and used this knowledge to improve their art.
