About this deal

A good quality 25mm Super Plossl eyepieces is supplied as standard, giving a magnification of 51x. Additional eyepieces of both 1.25" and 2" barrel sizes can be used with this telescope and are available as an added extra,(practical maximum eyepiece focal length is 30mm, minimum focal length up to around 4.5mm). You can find out the level of light pollution at your home by looking up the Bortle Scale. There are many places to find bortle maps, I like LPM or Light Pollution Map, and they are the measure of the darkness of an area. The bottom of the telescope's base is styled like a "Lazy Susan". An azimuth roller bearing provides dozens of support points for smooth, 360º motion, and sealed ball bearings keep movements in altitude easy and smooth as well. The included 1.25" Orion 25mm Sirius Plossl eyepiece provides a 48-power view when used with the SkyQuest XT10 Classic Dobsonian. Offering a wide 52° apparent field of view, the 25mm Sirius Plossl eyepiece yields extremely sharp, high-contrast images that will impress night after night. You can expand your magnification options by purchasing additional 1.25" or larger 2" wide-angle eyepieces of different focal lengths. (Additional eyepieces sold separately.) While other astronomy apps may claim that they can help you find objects, they rely exclusively on the phone's gyros and accelerometers, which aren't as accurate as LISA technology. No other app can accurately tell you when your target is visible in the eyepiece.

A 6x30mm finderscope is included, which allows for accurate pointing of the telescope, though this can be upgraded to Bresser's larger and more sophisticated 8x50mm illuminated finder. Since 1975 Orion Telescopes & Binoculars has been offering telescopes for sale direct to customers. Now an employee-owned company, we pride ourselves on an unswerving commitment to best quality products, value and unmatched customer care. Our 100% satisfaction guarantee says it all. SThis is a really exciting list and I am sure you are already looking up the next clear night. Please understand that there are a few factors to consider when you think about what you will be able to see. Weather Unlike other telescopes you can find on the market that use lenses, reflecting telescopes use mirrors to focus the light. Mirrors collect the light and then they reflect it to the focal point. An additional mirror directs the light out of the telescope and into the eyepiece to provide you with a clear view. The 10" parabolic mirror on the AD10 is made from quality materials and is figured to 1/12th wave. It is finished off with an aluminum and silicon dioxide coating that offers 93% reflectivity to ensure stunningly bright images.

Product Summary

The temperature should be as far away from the dew point as possible. This means less condensation or dew to interfere with your seeing. If the dew point gets too low you can use accessories to fight against the dew. Read more about active dew control in the linked post.

As this is my first proper telescope, I was looking for something that would be reasonably versatile so I could look at both planets and deep sky objects. Ultimately, I wanted it keep me interested in astronomy for many years to come and not just be a mad phase I go through. To help me in making a choice I watched many astronomy Youtuber channels like Astrobiscuit, Ed Ting and Helena's Astrophotography to name a few, and read the FLOs Beginner advice (https://www.firstlightoptics.com/beginner-telescopes.html) Binoculars Vortex Binoculars Canon Binoculars Swarovski Binoculars Hawke Binoculars Celestron Binoculars Nikon Binoculars Steiner Binoculars Zeiss Binoculars Binocular Accessories

They all seemed to be very good but had slight variances on what extras are provided. I went what thought was a reasonably priced product, the Bresser 10" Dob. Although this option only provided one lens, a 25mm Plossl, it also comes with a Sun filter so I thought might be something worth trying out should the opportunity arise. Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.

The Skywatcher HERITAGE-100P is simple and easy on the bank, but it’s also powerful enough to grab some spectacular views off it. Of course, you might want to upgrade once you become an expert gazer, but for now, this is the best budget model you’ll find.It is a good idea to document your discoveries in some way. I know some people like to sketch, photograph or journal their findings. I use the simple notepad on my phone to jot down notes. Cloud cover is important because your telescope cannot see through clouds. Your telescope is not the James Webb! Red Spot or Clouds on Jupiter – Jupiter is a bright object which means that you may be able to make out more detail like the clouds or the great red spot. These are exciting sights as well. If conditions are exceptionally clear you may see a moon moving across the face of Jupeter. A moon and sky filter may help you make out more detail. I've previously tested and loved Celestron's StarSense Explorer DX telescope ( 9/10, WIRED Recommends), which uses the same smartphone app and cradle. The tech here is both impressive and simple, combining the power of a star map in your phone with a mirror on the telescope to handle the navigation for you. The Dobsonian model is much larger and more powerful. The included 8×50 finder scope is a premium right-angle model presenting a correct left/right and up/down oriented image for easy aiming of your 10″ Dobsonian telescope.
