About this deal

Greene, Andy (28 May 2020). "Yusuf/Cat Stevens Re-Records 'Tea for the Tillerman' for 50th Anniversary". Rolling Stone. In December 2006, Islam was one of the artists who performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, in honour of the prize winners, Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank. He performed the songs "Midday (Avoid City After Dark)", "Peace Train", and "Heaven/Where True Love Goes". He also gave a concert in New York City that month as a Jazz at Lincoln Center event, recorded and broadcast by KCRW-FM radio, along with an interview by Nic Harcourt. Accompanying him, as in the Cat Stevens days, was Alun Davies, on guitar and vocals. CD3 features the newly-released Tea For The Tillerman², which Yusuf has chosen to include to show how these songs are as pertinent today as they were 50 years ago. CD4 includes demos, outtakes, and alternate versions, with the previously unreleased “Can This Be Love?”, “It’s So Good,” “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out,” and “Don’t Be Shy.” “Can This Be Love?” was originally scheduled to appear on the album, after Cat wrote it alongside “Father and Son” for the proposed musical project Revolussia in 1969. There was a time I listened to Cat Stevens. But sorry folks, anyone who openly advocates the murder (on religious grounds) of another artist no longer deserves any consideration for anything. Stevens additionally named the album Foreigner because he took up residency in Brazil as a tax exile. He recorded Foreigner in Jamaica. On 9 November 1973, Stevens performed the song on ABC's In Concert, a 90-minute program they named the Moon & Star, including the full 18-minute "Foreigner Suite" without commercial interruption. Teaming up with Playing for Change, in 2021 Yusuf / Cat Stevens recorded a new version of "Peace Train" with over 25 musicians from 12 countries. [175] 2023: Yusuf / Cat Stevens - European Tour and King of a Land [ edit ] The album began his long-running creative partnership with producer Paul Samwell-Smith, formerly of the Yardbirds, and featured such highlights as the spiritually uplifting “I Think I See The Light,” the tongue-in-cheek “Pop Star,” the heart-rending “Trouble,” and the highly romantic UK Top 10 single “Lady D’Arbanville.” A wealth of unreleased gems

It was certainly bold of him to give over the whole of side one to his "Foreigner" suite but I'm afraid, despite listening to it several times, I just can't detect any themes or motifs running through it or worse, anything which matches up to his own previous standards. One or two of the segments actually had me wincing with discomfort as I listened in vain for a really memorable line or melody at least until the pleasant piano music which plays out the piece (and allegedly Chtis Martin and his chums thought the same!).
