nice to see a reboot (not the fake reboot that was Age of Extinction), a true re-imagining that would essentially Human Affairs— In a world of robots, machines, and aliens, we explore the humans who help save the world. Bottom line, 'Transformers' gives Michael Bay the chance to do two things. One, it allows him to rebound from the box office fiasco that was 'The Island' with a guaranteed mega-hit. And two, it gives him the perfect material for his fast-cut, smash-a-minute sensibilities -- what better story for a filmmaker like Bay than a movie about a boy, his robot, and a legion of merchandising tie-ins hell-bent on destroying the world while they destroy each other? the series are not particularly good books by any stretch of the imagination, but they delivered serviceable entertainment centered around aliens, Haunting sounds around Cybertron linger about the top (and elsewhere). I really can’t imagine seeing a movie like this in a narrow scope and the wider screen gives us that much more reason to appreciate the new HD formats and how good they really look on screen. The image itself is nearly perfect, with no pixilation evident, no artifacting and flesh tones seemed warm and natural (though actress Megan Fox does seem a bit sun-drenched at times, but it could just be her). Naturally a big part of the movie are the special effects and they look amazing. I wouldn’t have thought that the actual robots would look as good as they do, but it seems that with HD you can see every detail in the robots. Colors are bright and vivid and though some of the movie is a bit dark, the transfer holds up very well. For a new release, “Transformers” gives the viewer exactly what they were asking for.
