About this deal

The Two of Cups uses natural (land and sea) and human-constructed elements (boots vs slippers, clean fitted dress vs cut jeans, and oversized t-shirt) to show differences between the two partners coming together in agreement. The Four Powers spread and its alternate, The Cunning Path spread, and the 9-card Inner Wheel layout are provided. Submerged #1-4. Co-creator, interior art and covers. Written by Vita Ayala, colors by Stelladia. Vault Comics. The cards measure 70 mm by 120 mm, which is the usual size for tarot cards. They are neither extremely long nor wide.

First published in 2019 by Liminal 11, The Modern Witch Tarot is a diverse, contemporary take upon the traditional tarot inspired by fashion and modern witches from the everyday walk of life. The Minor Arcana receives a little less attention, there are no images or descriptions of the card, just the interpretation. It should be noted that there are no reversed meanings given for either the Major or Minor Arcana. While witchcraft is a relatively prominent part of the culture of the US, and steeped into the energy of Mexico, it takes a different tone in Japan, where the majority of the population is polytheist.

Instead, they have been updated to fit 21st-century life. The advice is mostly positive, but it doesn’t avoid talking about the less pleasant things that can come up in readings.

Lisa Sterle beautifully merges traditional Rider-Waite symbolism with modern imagery. Every classic symbol and idea is on each card, and we can read them intuitively. Furthermore, because of the diversity of people on the cards, we are able to connect with Tarot on a deeper level. While the descriptions and interpretations are contemporary, the divinatory meanings are not dramatically different from the old meanings but updated for 21st-century life. The bonus card Everything Is Fine is similar to the 10 of Swords, so its title probably says it all. It may replace the 10 of Swords. However, some cards have multiple meanings that are not revealed in the description. The Moon card, for example, can represent anxiety and confusion. However, in this guidebook, it asks us to ‘ do something crazy.’I would also appreciate it if the guidebook contained the card keywords, as I think keywords are super useful for beginners.Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Designed by Lisa Sterle, The Modern Witch Tarot was created during a low point of Lisa’s life: Jaded by the trudge of feeling trapped within a dead-end-design job, Lisa felt her creativity, passion for art, and general faith in humanity was being drained. Toward the end of the book instruction is given for the care and storage of cards, how to prepare for a reading, phrasing a question, and doing a layout.

The strength of traditional tarot symbols is combined with the strength and power of witchcraft in the twenty-first century, where we make our own magic with our own bodies and the latest fashion. In terms of the images on the cards themselves, the graphics are clear and bright, and the images are great. It is a modern take on the Smith-Waite theme, with lots of modern landscapes, clothes, and technology.

Modern Witch Tarot review by medusawink

While the wording of both the descriptions and the interpretations is modern, the divinatory meanings are not radically different to traditional meanings so much as updated and appropriate to 21st-century living. The advice given has a generally positive outlook but does not shy away from the less pleasant issues that can arise in readings. End of book instructions for card care and storage, preparing for a reading, framing a question, and layout. The one-card draw, two 4-card layouts,

The Hierophant traditionally wears three layers of clothing to represent the conscious, the subconscious, and the super-conscious mind. The Modern Witch Hierophant wears a dress, a scarf, and a layer of tattoos, a beautiful interpretation of each layer, in my opinion. The Minor Arcana has no illustrations or descriptions, simply interpretations. Major and minor arcana have no reversed interpretations. Growing up in the desert has been an integral part of Cordova’s journey. The mountains, specifically the South Mountain Park and Preserve, have brought her deeper into this ancient wisdom. As an Afro-Latina, Cordova’s culture intermingles with the wisdom of the desert in myriad ways.
