About this deal

This TTartisan is very tempting with that 0.95 aperture but I can place a bid on a Nokton E f1,2 in good condition for 400.- (I own FE55 as walk around AF 50 and my other MF kit lens are Loxia 21 and CV Nokton 35mm f1,2 VMII). I’m also thinking of upgrading the 35mm for VM version 3 or the SE but the gain in performance seems not as big as with the 50. The lens I bought was a Yashica ML 50mm F1.4, and that just opened up a whole new world for me. It helped me to get some bokeh on my images, and the lens wasn’t made out of plastic. Don’t get me wrong, the XC lenses have some great glass if you’re on a budget. But they’re slow compared to the f1.4 prime, obviously. Optically I think this review is a very accurate representation of reality. What I wanted to add that vignetting is extremely focus distance dependent. So it only becomes a serious problem nearing infinity, regardless of the aperture, though certainly stopping the lens down worsens the extreme corners of the extreme corners. I’m not in to specific numbers. But I asked the question in a Swedish Fuji-group on facebook, and people want this kind of lense. Look at X-Pro 3, all the criticisms it got at launch, and now. People love it! It’s simple, it’s basic. That kind of costumer want a quality manual lense.

7artisans Photoelectric 35mm f/0.95 Lens for FUJIFILM X 7artisans Photoelectric 35mm f/0.95 Lens for FUJIFILM X

Now, everyone is free, … for me state or not state company is not the point : high level of national incomes are used for hegemony inside and outside the country, many many dangerous weapons, cameras systems, softwares and systems to control people, spying, … list should be very long. I do not want to help them to build the chains they will put around me. We will be looking at 100% crops from the 24mp Sony A7III and the Leica M10. Both cameras do not have an anti aliasing filter in front of the sensor. 2.1m distance (24mp Sony A7III vs 24mp Leica M10)

I understand why TTArtisan decided to make their lenses not fine tuned out the box. It saves time, money and expertise and in turn that means they can sell the lens much cheaper than the comparable Leica Noctilux 50mm f0.95 or the new Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.0. After the release of the new super fast Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.0 lens I was keen to test it against the TTArtisan f0.95 50mm lens. Alternative lens choice? Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1.0 This is a very different lens as it is not optimized to give smooth bokeh at maximum aperture but rather nervous bokeh with lots of field curvature. Does not fit my taste, but maybe the cheapest option to get a new very fast 50mm lens. Thanks for the review. Would you be able to elaborate the differences with the TTArtisan 35mm f0.95 and the 7Artisans 35mm f0.95? I am torn between the two and would love to hear the pros and cons of these two. TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 Review (Leica M) Chinese Noctilux: TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 Review (Leica M)

It may be an acquired taste shooting at f/0.95 exclusively but think of it as a different paintbrush and with a bit of patience I think you can create unique images with this lens. Chinese lens manufacturer 7Artisans has several options for the Fujifilm X mount as well as full-frame lenses for other camera brands. 7Artisans specializes in prime lenses at affordable prices relying on design clues from classic lenses from the past, namely Leica lenses. When we buy cheap item, we dont only something of low value, we buy something which kills our economy!!! Which return we have from this big bully? Just bully. Photography Reviewer and Mathematics Educator. Writes for Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Canon amongst others and loves to share life as it is with its sweet and bitter moments. Because the price on western market is final price after all export costs and with the country costs in which they are sold … … gap is big very very big. When the major cameras and lens makers will close like in garment industry and so on, …Since I got rid of all my Fuji lenses I am also loving my files. 🙂 While I’ve been using Fuji since 2012 I’ve also Nikon since 2004, and Canon, and preferred the colors from those cams. But now I think perhaps it is mostly about lenses. This 7Artisans has really improved things. Well, someday maybe try the 5.6. You might be surprised what can be done. Up close on portraits, some very nice, surprisingly shallow DOF. crops from center, A7rII, b ecause of focus shift (see corresponding section) I refocused for every shot. For those that can live without having an f/0.95 lens the Voigtlander VM 50mm 1.2 might be the more compelling option here, too.

35mm F0.95 – TTArtisan APS-C 35mm F0.95 – TTArtisan

I already have a Pentax SMC M 50 f1.4 that's excellent, so I wasn't sure getting an f1.2 was really justified. But now seeing the pretty minimal difference to f0.95 I'm second guessing whether it's worth it. Pretty much any of the Chinese lenses can do the dreamy look wide open. If you mainly want to shoot at f/1.4 I would recommend to get an f/1.4 lens (e.g. the TTArtisan 50mm 1.4) as it will save you money, bulk and the opening will be perfectly round at f/1.4.

Of all these manual 50mm lens options, which would you recommend for portraits and cityscapes with a focus on smooth round/oval bokeh? F0.95 is sure nice to have but I assume I’ll shoot mostly around F1.4 and am not a fan of hexagonal type bokeh when stopping down. After I bought the 7Artisans, that’s the ONLY thing I wish from Fujifilm, a manual prime with data transfer, like the new Voigtländer 35mm F1.2. And if they would do such a lens, it would be insane if they made some software tweaks to get some focus peaking/digital parallax focus for the OVF. It would be a dream to have a manual lens that was fully functional with the OVF! Do I really need to buy a Leica to get that feature?

I used to cooperate on 7Artisans lens review, but lost communications with them more than year ago. When TTArtisans appeared on the market, they impressed me mechanically and optically by showing higher machining quality and rendering performance. Unfortunately with lenses with high optical vignetting the midframe can indeed more easily show signs of decentering than the corners. Nice pictures which are from the talent of the photographer. If I want good earphones, I will go for Bose or Shure, Beats is not my reference, it is mass market. Mostly because it is very easy to move out of position inadvertently and you are never really sure which aperture you are shooting at as you do not get verification in the viewfinder.

years ago I could only dream about ultra fast lens in a compact form factor for native Fuji X mount. Well eric: I too do not want to buy from China so I buy recycled lenses and cameras I.e. secondhand . Hi, on most Fujifilm cameras you have two important manual focus tools you should know, to make best use of lenses like this. The very fast maximum aperture is what sets this lens apart from most of the other 50mm lenses. I don’t want to anticipate the conclusion right at the beginning, but if you don’t want to use this lens at f/0.95 there are definitely smarter options available. I will therefore heavily concentrate on how this lens performs wide open, especially as a portrait lens. Handling / Build Quality TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 This like that, many companies from Western countries have closed their doors, and the others like SHURE made in China.
