About this deal

When snapping stuff closer to the primary sensor, there's an attractive level of bokeh (background blur) that puts out better close-up shots than the phone's dedicated Macro shooting mode (which relies on the ultrawide rather than the main sensor). That’s the (admittedly silly) name for Nothing’s unique pattern of white LED strips that form part of the rear design.

Although we were able to study the Phone 1's design in Nothing's official press imagery ahead of its launch, getting hands on the device is unquestionably a richer experience. These light patterns indicate app notifications, charging status (the bottom strip fills up as the phone charges) and are also used as visual ringtones. In the Geekbench 5 test, the Nothing Phone (1) achieved broadly similar single-core and multicore processing results as its rivals. Realme GT Series Mobile Phones Realme 200MP Camera Mobile Phones Mobile Phones With IPS LCD Display Mobile Phones With 6. It's a high-quality option that builds on the Phone (1), and some of its great software features have come to the older model, too.

Shooting on the Phone 1 is fun: the shutter is reasonably fast in daylight or artificial lighting and images from the main 50MP Sony sensor serve up a pleasing amount of detail, plus colors that dabble, tastefully, with heightened saturation. Finance is only available to permanent UK residents aged 18+, subject to status, terms and conditions apply. When the phone's connected to a charging cable, the bottom light shines to show you how full of juice the phone is.

Ahead of its general release on July 21, 2022 – similarly to Ear 1 – Nothing also hosted pop-up kiosks in several locations, including London, where interested fans could get hands-on with the device and even pick one up on the spot. Lasting for a total of 20hrs 13mins in our video-rundown test, the Nothing Phone (1)’s stamina isn’t the longest we’ve seen, with the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G taking the crown at almost 24 hours.Hardware and software speak a single visual language, with bespoke widgets, fonts, sounds and wallpapers. Due to space taken up by the system file (including Android system and pre-installed apps), the available memory capacity is less than this value. With ten lighting styles and sounds to choose from, you can assign ringtones to specific contacts, all with accompanying bit-tune chirrups (when the phone isn’t on silent or vibrate). One thing I did like, however, is that you can enable the Glyph LEDs in this mode to be used as a makeshift fill light.
