Had to do a couple of minor surgeries and then I hit the ground running in a tough summer college course.

Forged in the fires of the scouring, Hevaran is sacred in its desolation, condemned to never rebuild… yet hidden upon its barren surface is a sacred relic. This book is definitely a step in the right direction so far as Warhammer fiction is going, but ultimately a short novel like Helbrecht: Knight of the Throne just isn’t the place for deeper ruminations on the nature of faith. First, I was recently fortunate enough to have author Marc Collins on the blog for a quick interview, and his talk about common themes in his work piqued my interest. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.I always have a hard time with authors I perceive as "new" since Warhammer 40k is so close to my heart. High Marshal Helbrecht is back in the action after his meeting with Roboute Guilliman, doing what he does best – questing for a sacred relic with a handful of his best troops. Well, some family members went on a road trip in Europe and when they came back they brought the big C with them.

Helbrecht: Knight of the Throne begins in the Era Indominatus, with Guilliman chastising Helbrecht for his actions. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF. And really, despite my want of something more, you can’t fault the book for taking the route it does. This side of things is very much the big stompy heroes being big and stompy sort of narrative that usually turns me right of the Space Marines as a concept. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Nevertheless, these moments of deeper philosophy raise this novel above the field of gore and action that characterised earlier Space Marine products. And because they’re quite short and self-contained, there’s less of a problem if you don’t get on with any of the above. High Marshal Helbrecht is back in the action after his meeting with Roboute Guilliman, doing what he does best – questing for a sacred relic with a handful of his best troops. Yes, we can seed this questions in the reader’s mind, but the focus here is killing heretics and saving history. That sets it firmly in the current timeline of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, meaning this is more of an exploration of character rather than an origin story. Faced with a Guilliman who disagrees, the question that arises is wether duty and faith are always the same thing.

A well written story that sheds a light onto both the Character of Helbrecht and the wider chapter of the Black Templars. But when faith and duty are no longer in alignment, Helbrecht must make a quest of pilgrimage to recover a relic of his chapter, and perhaps to recover his own sense of identity as well . Forged in the fires of the Scouring, Hevaran is sacred in its desolation, condemned never to rebuild… Yet hidden upon its barren surface is a sacred relic.

For Warhammer 40,000 he has written a number of short stories, including ‘Duty Unto Death’, ‘The Crueltymaker’s Kingdom’ and ‘The Death of the Prophet’. These are all fairly short novels, released exclusively as snazzy little hardbacks, that highlight significant figures from the setting. Helbrecht is essentially a warrior angel, with absolute conviction that he is doing what the God-Emperor commands of him. These Character books are a great way to sample a new faction, to get a feel for an author’s style, and to poke at a new corner of the universe.
