About this deal

Other cables we’ve seen have been significantly thinner, and it’s hard to conclude Nextbase chose this because if offered better quality. When you set up the front dash cam, it'll ask what position it's placed (top left, top right etc) too. Plus it has the benefit of a polarising filter and six-layer glass lens for reduced glare and sharper video. I just feel this would have been better if it fed into the power feed on the windscreen mount (for those who remove their dashcam when it's on your driveway).

It’s difficult to hide under rubber door and boot seals, and is also hard to manipulate around corners. The system isn’t quite as slick as the magnetic mount used by TomTom’s satnavs, but it remains user-friendly.Take your Dash Cam inside and plug it into mains power or a computer using the Nextbase provided USB cable. This will detect sharp motion, indicating an incident, and will mark the current video recording as an emergency, which will guard it against being overwritten.

The built-in Wi-Fi allows users to easily transfer and view their recordings on their mobile devices. You will need a separate power supply and SD card as it will not connect to your 512GW, but can be used as a Camera facing rearwards. The 512GW is a mid-range dash cam from Nextbase, a company originally set up in 1999 to import portable entertainment systems from China. Fault:- when first power up after connecting 512 to rear cam then inserting 512 into windscreen mount is the PiP of rear view is just an outline.

The 512 GW Dash Cam can record at 1440p HD at 30 frames per second or 1080p at 60fps to ensure that even at fast speeds everything is still caught on camera, making it ideal for motorway driving. In daylight, you should be able to make out number plates and signs with no problems, unless they’re simply too far away. Reports suggest that criminals are targeting fleet vehicles so the need for an independent witness is at its most important.

In reply to your original question Yousuf - yes I am happy to own 512GW now - it works impressively well and does all I want - just a few rough edges to smooth out and these will be accomplished by software (firmware) updates which are easy to apply.Recording at 1440p QUAD HD the 512GW provides unbeatable image quality, and a vast array of features The Nextbase 512GW Dash Cam is the ultimate Dash Cam experience.
