The opening chapter of this was so creepy I went my first time ever live on Tiktok (smbslt) as I was reading it home alone. Cons - Suddenly Hunter getting dream and that connect with the next sequence, his close connection with Air marshal remembering at the time when it was required. That being said, Genesis, the 12th book in the Robert Hunter series, was as deliciously good and chilling as its predecessors.

Genesis is a story of many layers that are slowly peeled back, just like peeling an onion, until it reveals the truth behind the madness, bringing everything together in a way that works very well. This was an absolutely dark, gritty, gory and twisted (when it comes to the MO of the killer, the motivation isn't really twisted - like I said sometimes the killer is relatable) book. The story and writing are excellent, captivating the reader from the very first pages but never losing its momentum. Then they send a wee video, well that was me, checked my front door and read it and the rest of the chapter on TT so I wasn't alone. I found Genesis to be along similar lines to his other books but with a bit of a twist - or so I thought anyway . A brilliant but flawed protagonist, amazing side characters, killers that feel real, situations that don't require one to suspend their disbelief and a very realistic description of how a murder investigation and a killer's mind work.
