As a rookie, Furno was impatient but passionate, and eager to prove himself, especially to team leader Stormer. Despite being produced by a different studio, the episode shares the same continuity as the rest of the series. The story is not finished when Hero Factory got cancelled in 2014, and it has many unresolved things.

The exception is the set Fire Lord which contains 125 pieces, stands around 26 cm (10"), and has an age rating of 9–16. The combi-models of 2014 take a new approach, combining different Hero mechs together and Jumper beasts together to create various new designs. The sizes, which were previously the same among the Heroes and standard among the villains, were now varied, with two different sizes in each division, as well as the boxed Black Phantom. After the Alpha 1 team gained animal-based armor and weapons, Merrick Fortis developed his own "combi-weapons" and armor based on those used by Alpha 1, and debuted them on himself for a mission to Quatros.Back at the Hero Factory, Alpha 1 convince Makuro to upgrade them and after a training exercise, head back to the refueling station.

The colour scheme of the heroes and villains (red, blue, white, black, green, brown) was not continued in the Hero Factory theme, instead, colours like silver, gold, orange, and yellow were reintroduced. But there are savage beasts that attack them, Waspix, Fangz, Scorpio, and Raw-Jaw, who are controlled by the Witch Doctor. William Furno was once a reckless and ambitious rookie Hero assigned to Alpha 1, now a valuable team member.While stealing explosives from a Hero Factory transport, the Heroes stop them; Rotor is captured but XPlode flees the scene. A further episode titled "Invasion from Below" was produced by Lego with design partner Advance and animation company Ghost. Von Nebula, formerly known as Von Ness, used to be a hero on Stormer's team; however, during a mission, his cowardice nearly caused the destruction of a city. The line breaks the traditional BIONICLE set release structure, with smaller hero sets released concurrently with larger villain sets rather than as separate waves of similarly-sized sets. There they fight alongside their newest member Daniel Rocka and defeat the techno-organic minions of the evil Witch Doctor, a former Hero Factory educator and Stormer's old mentor.

From 2011 onward the characters were modeled with four-fingered fists instead of the 2009/2010 three-fingered fists. Hero Factory's headquarters are based in a towering skyscraper centred in the fictional Makuhero City on a terraformed asteroid. Bulk's artificial intelligence is less developed than others, which he sometimes feels self-conscious about, but he makes up for this intelligence deficiency with sheer power. Once constructed, they are placed in special hero pods and beamed across the galaxy to defeat evil and complete their various missions.This attitude occasionally annoys his teammates, but helps him in dealing with the stressful situations they get into. Each Hero is unique, with their own distinct personalities and equipment, and the Heroes are arranged into teams.

Working together, Alpha 1 manage to release all the creatures and Surge from control of the brains, and defeat the drones. The Heroes, with the information given by Zib back at Mission Control, conclude that the excessive mining of the Quaza has made the planet unstable, destroying it from its core.The Alpha 1 Team attempts to intervene, but is soundly defeated, necessitating a risky upgrade into stronger forms to help combat the new threat.
