We use Google Analytics to see what pages are most visited, and where in the world visitors are visiting from. It was the second module on the course and it’s when I started to think about sequences and how a few images could tell a story. Can you tell us a little about some of the modules you took there and the lecturers who had an impact on your work? Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. Observing people on the tube, in museums, cafes, etc, really influenced Lost, and Flooded of course!

Flooded is the funny and beautifully illustrated tale of animals who live in a city that is ever so slowly flooding. While we watch the growing distress of the smaller animals, we’re aware that there’s a sort of inverted pride in this inattention. A gentle story of climate change and community, this is a visually stunning debut using a minimal text, richly detailed images and a limited palette of striking Pantone colours. Can I be cheeky and ask for a tour of your workspace - it was great to get a snippet from your video.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.

It's also quite re-readable - on a second read through you appreciate the stoat/weasel/otter (not quite sure what he is) trying to get everyone's attention throughout the book to tell them what's going on. An interesting part of the story is not only seeing how quickly a situation can spiral out of control but also how the larger animals are quite happy to ignore the problem until it becomes a problem for them - so lots of parallels with real life.Working with a limited colour palette and negative space is one of the elements that make Flooded such a success. Working with an editor and art director can really help to push the story to its best, by asking simple questions like, “What’s the story about” or “What’s the point? However as we read on, we’re aware that through the lofty pulse of the pen and ink city are scrawls of an urgent yellow tail.
