About this deal

Catan won the coveted Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) award in 1995 and its worldwide success helped to usher in a new 'golden age' of board games. With over 2 million copies sold, this classic game is now available in a smaller format, perfect for on-the-go play.

Players will score their tile placing as normal in the final round but before the game ends there are some end game scoring factors to be taken into account. By carefully drafting the correct quantity and style of tiles, the most clever of artisans plan ahead to maximise the beauty of their work (not to mention their scores! I do not have azul yet, and wonder if the mini version is good, or if the normal version is a better choice. Azul Mini is not a pocket sized edition of the classic tile-laying board game – but it does fit into a bag, according to Plan B’s Facebook announcement made Tuesday, which suggests you take it on your next vacation.Every game is different thanks to an ever-changing array of tiles that appear in each round to be claimed, ensuring that you'll keep coming back time and time again to chase that big score.

With smaller tiles, the travel edition also includes plastic overlay tray keeping your tiles safe and snug on your player board. The new Azul mini helps keep things secure whist you’re travelling by storing everything in a blue Azul branded fabric mini tote bag which can be used to transport the game on its own or can be fitted back into the cardboard box for extra security. By carefully drafting the correct quantity and style of tiles, the most clever of artisans plan ahead to maximize the beauty of their work (not to mention their scores! The Mini version comes with thinner and smaller tiles which have a cut-out part on the back of tile to connect it to the studs on the player board. At the end of the round, if you have filled a row with matching coloured tiles you can move one over to the right to your wall.

Designed by the world famous, Michael Kiesling and illustrated by acclaimed artist, Chris Quilliams, Azul invites players to Portugal where as a master artisan, the aim is to create a mosiac fit for a monarch! Have fun and play with confidence knowing your tiles will be safe in the plastic overlay of your player board which helps them stay in place. Introduced by the Moors, “azulejos” (originally white and blue ceramic tiles) were fully embraced by the Portuguese, when their King Manuel I, on a visit to the Alhambra palace in Southern Spain, was mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the Moorish decorative tiles.

Plastic overlays for the player boards with integrated sliding scoring markers are included, so you can even play this edition on a moving train, plane or boat. Not just a dice bag - when you're All Rolled Up you're ready to game without needing to worry about finding all your gaming gear.Azul Mini | The Gaming CircusThe original game of Azul has been shrunk and is now perfect for travelling with! Players must carefully consider which tiles to draft and where to place them on their player boards to maximize their score and prevent penalties. Themed around decorating a palace with colourful tiles, Azul disguises a viciously competitive drafting game behind an unassuming exterior. The mechanics of the game are simple to understand, making it accessible to both children and adults. Everything is done very professionally with this company and always lets you know every step of the process.

Players score an extra 5 points for any completed rows, an extra 7 points for completed columns and an extra 10 points if you have completed a colour collection. This is not always necessarily the player who ended the game as the end game scoring can boost other players scores. I really like Azul - it's quick to teach, looks nice, and has just enough bite to it to be a challenge. The player boards have been placed into a plastic tray which the tiles fit into and the scoring is now counted with a plastic marker.

It is a game with a mix of strategy and luck and the aim of the game is to score the most points for your tile placing. At the end of each round, players score points based on the completed patterns and lose points for any leftover tiles. Its small size and simple mechanics make it a great choice for beginners, while its strategic depth will keep experienced players engaged and coming back for more.
