If she is straight, she had gay friends back when that was still an edgy concept for suburban housewives. It seems that no current formulation vintage fragrance has a correct fragrantica rating for sillage and longevity, I am sure this fragrance was that one spray is enough bomb back in the day, it is still beautiful and I will be wearing it A LOT, but it is not that. Rich vetiver, lush oakmoss, and luxurious patchouli are balanced with the soft florally of ylang ylang and rose - a bold blend that stirs the senses and spirit in subtle, pleasing ways.

Bought my first bottle in the 70's and it has always been one of my favourite cold weather comforters. it's not my favorite perfume because I'm more of a gourmand girly, but its really nice and i like it! As i sprayed it on my wrist I had to immediately wash it away and still the terrible smell lingers for hours. As a man, and a lover of chypres, and a admirer of Bernard Chant, i must hunt down a back up bottle, vintage, of Aromatics Elixir. I always wondered about it and the mystical stories I heard about it, that it was made mostly for hippies and I can see why, it smells amazing, like the most calming anti stress essential oil blend you can find, is relaxing and grounding, earthy and airy, I can feel my chakras aligned and connected to the earth.

I had thought about getting a bottle but I think I will pass on Aromatics - there's something in the drydown that REALLY reminds me of YSL Opium- Opium minus the cloves. I do feel like this scent is very unisex, personally the mossy component of this scent overwhelms any feminine florals that may be present. This current formulation brings it closer to the 80’s formula and remarkably close to Genny, the original Diana de Silva production.

I absolutely adore it but I came into it with the same mentality that I find myself in surrounding vintage fragrances. It is well balanced in its elements of herbacity, which encompass the smells of earthyness/dirt, grassiness, medicinal herbs or herbs for drinking as tea.

I imagine this fragrance worn by a woman of the world traveling by sea in a voyage long enough for a steamer trunk to be used. The juice still contains real oakmoss, there is a *long* list of ingredients in the box (as it's the case after reformulations), and it's made in Switzerland if that matters. This large bottle I now possess might serve as a body spray, even, to be topped with precious drops from a vintage bottle, turned brown with age. I remember trying AE decades ago and being repelled by it, but having recently started to learn more about perfume, I wanted to revisit it, especially as it is revered as such a classic.
