Lots of complicated back and forth, misunderstandings that don't make much sense (after being all enraged and vengeful for feeling pressured into marrying heroine for most of the book, so much so that hero rants that the marriage is a sham and makes heroine think he is rejecting her, and lets heroine go off rather than take a hit to his pride and tell her he cares for her, and then forces her to be his mistress and makes her feel publicly humiliated, all because of his anger that he had to marry her. Importantly the characters again demonstrated that love can overcome all obstacles, a satisfying ending.
