About this deal

Zach was number 1 for my blind ranking and honestly he could have stayed there if I had more from him but we did get a lot of him in book 2 PLUS a pov 😍 Wren has never stolen a life, but that doesn’t stop her from believing her darkness makes her a walking nightmare. Harboring a power so lethal, unpredictable, and entirely forbidden by kingdom law, Wren’s spent her whole life hiding what she is—who she is. A bloodwitch. I do wish the story was just a little bit longer so we could have more character development as both characters were very surface level, and therefore, I didn't really care about either of them. I think the schmexy scenes would have hit that much harder if there was some more time dedicated to expanding their characters first, however, this book was still quite enjoyable. Aaron Calem has been trying to resist the blood lust raging through his new body, but the unfamiliar voice in his head won’t let him pass up an easy meal. When he’s left with a girl barely clinging to life, he must choose between loyalty to his brothers or his own morality.

As characters, Wren and Sin are flawed, but I continued rooting for them through all of the angst. Wren is a strong and sassy woman who you don’t want to cross, while Sin is legit SWOONY and complex as a morally grey character. I kid you not when I tell you that I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to get together and when they did... We meet some really incredible new characters in this book (you can just be prepared to love Skylar the most), and there is constant action in this—I never felt like a scene was there for pure fluff it was really all impactful for the plot. The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written. Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are.”

Philza walked the earth for another millennium before he got tired of doing it alone. There were whispers, of course, of other things like him out in the world, lingering in the shadows and preying on the weak, but he paid them little mind. They were young, feral, cursed for some crime, unlike him. He had been given a gift, a second chance. It had just taken a while to see it. There's little room given to ever flesh out side characters, but even more so when it comes to the few women we're introduced to. Unsurprisingly, most of which are written in a negative light with little good things to be said about them. It's literally only Kimberly that we hear good things about because she's not like other girls. That being said, the pacing in this could have used work and especially room to breathe between scenes. Kimberly has no friends with the low effort put into actually making any, which bleeds into the rest of the book and leads to no anticipation for future Aaron/Kimberly scenes. This is because there are rarely any scenes where the two of them aren't together and it leads to fatigue. This book needed a lot of critical attention. Editing would have been an excellent beginning point to smooth out the very rough dialogue and details like slang and choppy structure. Without it… this book… ya know. (My irritation rose per every ellipsis in this book and dear God, so many. It wasn't like Cokeley had anything super heavy to say, unsure why she went so hard on them).

You have somewhere to stay tonight?" She asked after a moment. He shrugged and offered a small smile, scooping his latest book into his bag. The long awaited sequel to S.L Cokeley’s This Blood that Binds Us is here! A cute college town romance with a badass FMC and a Golden retriever of a vampire MMC? Also found family vibes with the MMC’s protective brothers? Say less!kimberly burns is a strong-willed and independent character, contrasting aaron calem, who’s super positive and full of excitement. i think they had great chemistry and a respectful relationship. they’re both very protective over each other and always try to be truthful with one another (which i really appreciated). Romance? No. If you want a slow burn that burns so slow you don't get a kiss - even in the epilogue - then sure. But there is no actual romance or love in this story. She grabs his wrist and that's about it. Even their final "proclamation" of love is FILLED with the word "hypothetical," and I mean that literally.
