About this deal
It does look odd, and the shape of the grip seems to confuse people initially, but when you get your head round it, it's a comfortable design to use.
The height adjustment dial has arrows to show which direction is up or down (note: they relate to the base, not the bit), which is helpful; but the dial on mine has gotten more difficult to move over time.In a pinch, it will cut shallow rabbets in softwoods and works well for mortising hinges or striker plates. With a little practice, you'll be able to turn it on and off with just one finger without having to move your hand. Its innovative shape, low weight, and ideal balance point are optimized for comfortable, ergonomic handling. It also performs well at flushing/trimming poplar, pine, or other similar woods as long as you’re doing very shallow passes.
For additional safety, a drop detection sensor shuts off router should it fall and a finger guard prevents accidental contact with the rotating cutter. While not built for larger bits that are meant to remove a lot of material at once, this router can handle basic profiling like round-overs and shallow passes with straight-cutting bits. And because the handle has a smaller diameter than any other router, it's easy to grip firmly and comfortably. The GKF12V-8 Router gives the trade innovative lightweight design for total cordless routing control plus the narrow grip and large footplate ensure overall safe control at all times.
