About this deal

Anyway great build for your first pedal, good to get you used to soldering and it's small and simple so less likely for things to go wrong, and easier to troubleshoot if they do. The pedal worked great when I tested it with the battery, and it still works having wired it up to the switch! Very subtle volume push, until you reach closely full pot, but instead adds gain frequencies and overdriving your signal. That capability brings up one of my favorite uses for this pedal and the one that finally drove me to throw down the extra pesos for the new Micro Amp Plus: I use this pedal to cleanly reduce the “woof” from humbucking pickups when played into a Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe. My first exposure to it came when I was given an original MXR Micro Amp by my brother at the beginning of the ‘80s and it became a foundational part of my rig.

Full kit: As above, plus footswitch and appropriate daughterboard/components for your selected bypass type (see Downloads section for details of those), jack sockets, DC socket, battery snap, hook-up wire, LED.

The sound quality of this version easily exceeds the original, taking it far into the boutique pedal realm. Andertons Music Company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm registration number 716155. I have less need for multiple amps or channel switchers if I recognize that my wannabe-59 tele is not a hard rocker and I save that guitar for ballads and such where a clean, chimey tone and a little less volume at 10 is quite alright. The Micro Amp+ builds on that classic pedal with EQ controls and other upgrades that take this powerful boost box to the next level. Fifteen years later when I sold the amplifier and I thought I wouldn’t need Micro Amp anymore, I sold it in a vacuous moment. Also if you're playing a solo it gives you a little bit of volume without adding gain, in case you put it after the gain pedals. As mentioned earlier, activating on the pedal as you play introduces a boost that is as subtle or extreme as you want it to be; as an added bonus, I can attest that I've never noticed any coloration to my guitar tone when using the M-133. Of course, we’ve all become accustomed to companies “upgrading” their classic designs, only to discover that the charm of the original was somehow lost along the way.

Kit is available with a standard sized 1590B enclosure with battery, or a mini 1590A (36 x 90mm) enclosure with DC power only, though be aware that you'll be wiring in a very confined space. As far as MXR's claim that this is an easy output matching fix for guys who go between fender and Gibson? Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page. The MXR M-133 Micro Amp is a simple, streamlined pedal designed to add a preset amount of gain to your signal using one single control.

Overdrives and treble boosters would bend the frequency response which, in this case, is not desired. You can boost your signal for leads, use it to tweak your signal for two different guitars with unmatched output, for example a Strat and a Les Paul, or use it for a constant boost for smaller amps aswell as in a long effects chain where signal drop causes problems. It is a nice transparent push when you like more of your Class A amp without messing on volumes, or having an overdriven setup and cleaning the signal with the guitar pot. Adding a preset amount of gain with just a single control, the Micro Amp is a great way to boost your signal for lead work or adjust between two different guitars with unmatched output (i. You can also use it effectively on valve amps by plugging in to the effects loop for a very loud clean boost, or use it to push the front end harder for more volume and drive. The very different frequency responses on bolts with single versus gibbies with buckers means the perceived level may never really match up, but if you're just trying to get them to tickle V1 in your amp similarly it may help. A booster pedal to give you a little more oomph needed to overdrive your amp or boost your tone for a solo. by the same token I have to recognize my 335 mostly wants to rock, but the A2 pickups are soft in tone, low output for humbuckers and sit back in the mix as a rhythm instrument, so I should use her that way live. MXR/Dunlop initially marketed the Micro Amp as a mere volume boost, and it definitely does a great job as such. My favourite use is after fuzz/drive, at about 11 o'clock, with the guitar volume knob rolled half way down.
