About this deal
Overall the on-foot feel reminds me a lot of v2 or at least what I remember of v2 when it was fresh.
The contrast between this expectation and the shoe’s actual (lack of) weight makes the Rebel v2 feel almost like a toy when you first pick it up. The ride of the Rebel v2 reminds me a lot of the Pegasus Turbo 2 but I actually prefer the Rebel v2 because it has a better upper with no heel slippage. Again, on foot, I’m not a fan of the upper changes, but while running the shoe felt as flexible as the second version.I initially thought they made the last narrower, but a cursory comparison of v2 and v3 showed that the midsole widths are not all that different. Eleanor: The support on the heel is a bit intense at times and pushes me to land more on the back of the shoe.
The outsole pattern has changed a little, especially in the forefoot, where there’s now a distinct separation between mid- and forefoot instead of the different shaped pattern in v2. The mesh is so thin that you need to think about what socks you’re going to wear because people will see them. If someone has stability difficulties, they may find themselves having a hard time controlling their stride in this shoe. The shoe has a thin tongue that lies flat against the top of your foot, and the only overlay is the New Balance “N” on the side. As a result, you’ll likely see lower power numbers compared to shoes with a plain old straight split.
