About this deal

The Skin Treat Tinted Moisturizer is made with extremely moisturizing ingredients such as diamond powder and lipoamino acids. Your skin will always feel soft and smooth when using this product. Even though it’s a tinted moisturizer, it doesn’t have a dewy finish. Rather, it has a mattifying finish. Since it’s oil-free and controls shine, it’s also an ideal tinted moisturizer for those with oily skin. Here’s a little pic of me with the foundation on my face. I’m also wearing: Sleek Eyebrow Stylist (in medium) on my brows, Kiss gel eyeliner on my upper lash line, Sleek Solstice (Equinox) on my cheekbones , Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara on my eyelashes, Sleek Face Form contour palette (in fair) on my cheeks and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (in Cannes) on my lips.

In 1999, self-described “makeup junkie” Maureen Kelly set out to prove that makeup can be good for you & founded tarte™ out of her one bedroom apartment in New York City. My skin looked more airbrushed than I’ve seen it look in a long time. The Value: Punches above its weight Pioneering the use of high-performance naturals™, Maureen created a line of easy-to-use, life-tested products in wearable shades to deliver real results for real women™.I was a bit apprehensive about testing Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation because I usually don't go for fuller coverage base products. While I can appreciate a beat face on someone else, I don’t personally love the feeling of wearing lots of layers of makeup.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation Review - Byrdie

Another reason why this foundation is revolutionary is that it’s the first-ever vegan skincare foundation. Babassu is a palm that originates in Brazil. It’s a nourishing ingredient that will give your skin a healthy glow. It will also make your skin look plumper and more youthful. Your foundation won’t look cakey or dry thanks to this ingredient. The parts of my face most affected are around my nose and on my chin. Depending on the day, these areas can be inflamed, sore or itchy, or completely fine and normal looking. It’s a bit of a lottery (and not a fun one).It has medium coverage and is made with the trademarked hydroflex technology so the foundation never creases or cakes. The medium coverage is enough to minimize the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores while still looking natural. Tarte promises this foundation lasts for 12 hours. Intriguingly, Tarte have opted for a dropper rather than a pump, but it actually works really well and as I prefer to build my foundation, I can ensure I don’t use too much 🙂 I wasn’t sure I would be a fan of this formula, given that I'm usually a tinted moisturizer kind of girl. I don’t love heavy coverage on me so I was concerned I’d look like I had a mask of makeup on. I needn’t have worried, though, because that didn’t happen. In fact, my skin looked more airbrushed than I’ve seen it look in a long time.

Even though this is a serum foundation, your skin won’t look dewy. Instead, your skin looks healthy and refreshed. The foundation is also weightless and comfortable for all-day wear. I think you can tell that I absolutely love the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation. This foundation just works well for me and the great shade match is another benefit to this. It is a little hard to get a hold of though as Tarte isn’t sold in many places in Europe and this product is fairly expensive. However, if you are looking for a lightweight, natural looking foundation that wear well, then this is one to look into. Because the texture is so fluid and serum-like it makes sense that it comes with a dropper. A dropper is fun because it allows you to dot the formula onto different areas of your face without using your fingers. That said, experts would tell you that you’re not supposed to touch the dropper directly to your skin (because of bacteria) so I tend to hover it over the surface. Warning: Do this in front of a mirror for better aim, especially if wearing white. When I worked at Sephora, I would recommend this foundation to so many clients. It’s available in a variety of shades, is ideal for problematic skin, and looks oh-so natural — even though it has a full-coverage formula. Now that Tarte reinvented this foundation, the new formula can make your skin looks its best.

Another tinted moisturizer option is the Maracuja Tinted Moisturizer. While it has a light coverage, it’s easily buildable to minimize the appearance of imperfections. You can wear it on its own or underneath a foundation. With a radiant finish, your skin will look flawless. So naturally I gravitated towards the one I could be colour-matched for and actually be able to try out before buying, and I popped into my local Boots to get a sample of the Clinique foundation. Even though I barely applied any, it felt really cakey and heavy on my face and I wasn’t a fan at all, which is a shame because I love a lot of their other products; especially their skincare ranges. If you want something stronger than a tinted moisturizer but also has all of the same benefits, choose this serum foundation. What makes the Serum Foundation stand out is its water-based formula, so the foundation blends effortlessly.
