About this deal

The lifespan of car tyres can vary depending on various factors such as driving habits, road conditions, and tyre quality. The age old question of ‘how often should I change motorcycle tyres’ is one which will always spark debate. On most forecourts you’ll be able to find both a pressure gauge (that gives readings in bar and PSI) and an air pump. You should be able to find the recommended pressure for your tyres on a small sticker on your bodywork, or in the vehicle handbook. Additionally, it’s important to follow the tire manufacturer’s recommendations for tire replacement based on age, even if the tread depth appears sufficient.

Gloves: It's a good idea to wear gloves to protect your hands from dirt, grime, and potential injuries while handling the tyre and tools. Examine the tyre carefully to find the puncture, if you have a rip in the tyre sidewall, a hole over 4mm in the tread or the wheel itself is damaged your repair kit is unlikely to work and the tyre will need to be changed. Before you start, make sure you’re using a pressure gauge that uses the same unit of measurement as the pressure guidelines given for your car. Starting at the opposite side of the rim to the valve, use your thumbs to lift the tyre’s bead over the rim. If the tyre is deflating slowly, for instance after driving over a nail, the steering may just feel heavier than usual or drag to one side.

Saw Tooth tyre wear seems to be effecting more and more of todays modern, front wheel drive motor cars, from small hatch backs to large family saloons. However, tyre performance deteriorates well before the legal minimum depth is reached, particularly in wet weather. The inner tread blocks of the tyre wear unevenly and leave the tyre edge like a threepenny bit, this wear creates a noise from the tyre much like a rumbling wheel bearing – very annoying! Makeshift tools or using tools not intended for this purpose can compromise your safety, damage the tyre or rim, or cause personal injury.

They will assess the extent of the damage and advise you on whether it can be repaired or needs to be replaced. Warranty and Liability: Mixing different tire brands or models may void the warranty provided by the tire manufacturer. I’m hoping it’s nothing serious like a bent chassis, and hopefully a simple alignment correction at a tyre centre will put things right? Tyre pressure should be checked once a month to be sure you’re not driving on inadequately-inflated tyres. Ensure you don’t over-inflate your tyres by filling them up to within your vehicle’s recommended pressure range, which should be available in your owner’s manual or on a sticker on your car’s bodywork.

These tyres are only designed for emergency use, and won’t provide the braking or grip that a normal tyre will. At petrol stations you’ll almost always be able to select the correct pressure based on either of these measurements.

The bike needs to be lifted high enough to be able to remove the wheel(s) so you want to make sure the bike won’t move anywhere, you don’t want it falling on you or on the floor, mending a dent in your fuel tank could be expensive! Inflate fully and check once again that the tyre’s bead is still seated evenly and that the tyre isn’t lifting off the rim at any point, then adjust your pressures to suit. If you have a rip in the tyre sidewall, a hole over 4mm in the tread or the wheel itself is damaged, the kit is unlikely to work. Over-inflating tyres can mean they wear unevenly and may become more susceptible to damage from striking kerbs or sharp stones. Michelin suggests you should check your tyres thoroughly at least once a year after five years of use.

Remember to prioritise safety, gather the necessary tools, and consider seeking professional help when needed.
