About this deal
Set in fictional town of Haddley, based on Gold's hometown of Putney, Twelve Secretsis a cracking psychological thriller. All harbour secrets, secrets that start to spill, one after another, some downright nasty and some deadly, in this riveting crime read. It speaks to the arrogance, entitlement, and hubris of the very wealthy who think other people are pawns in their own personal game.
Twelve Secrets : The Sunday Times bestselling thriller
There’s Ben’s boss Madeline who he seems to respect and has been around long enough to know is ruthless but has ‘some’ integrity. There is a journalist, Ben Harper, but one with a difference, a man whose family made the headlines themselves because of the horrific murder of his older brother Nick. Ben had found the bodies after he saw the boys sneaking off with two local fourteen year old girls and followed them. Told from multiple POV it’s nigh on impossible to second guess how the characters are connected, but it certainly keeps those brain cells ticking over! What are the connections with the inter-school rugby final that Nick’s team had won shortly before the murders?I’ve heard many good things about Twelve Secrets, and this was truly an immersive psychological suspense read. A journalist looks into his tragic family past and starts to uncover hidden secrets surrounding the murder of his brother years earlier.

He spent a year or so traveling around the country, burying small ceramic boxes two feet underground.
You work in publishing, so you know what goes on behind the scenes - what has it been like to experience the other side of the process, and what are you looking forward to? I love the way a good story can gradually peel back the layers for a reader and that is definitely the case in TWELVE SECRETS. Ben is reluctant, happy to finally be living his life away from the spotlight, and with no desire to see his name and face on the front page again. Interestingly (or not) this is the third of fourth book I’ve read this year featuring crimes committed by juveniles…. And of course it’s then he learns that he was previously in the dark about A LOT of stuff as a child, and even later at the time of his mother’s death.
