About this deal

Filming took place in Minnesota for five weeks from April 15, 1996; at the time, it was the largest film production to ever take place in the state.

The original UK cinema and video releases were cut by the UK censors to remove a 7 second sequence involving nunchucks. This is a very good comedic family film about a parent trying to get the perfect Christmas gift for his son. They were vicious and violent with each other in their efforts to secure the piece of plastic junk for their little darling. Directed by Alex Zamm and produced by WWE Studios and 20th Century Fox, the film has a similar plot to the original, but is otherwise not connected and has none of the original cast or characters. Officer Alexander Hummell, whom Howard has run into several times already, investigates the package, only to have it detonate in his face. But, Arnold does play a pretty funny dad in the script and it is pretty entertaining seeing him go through so much misadventures in his quest for the toy, wondering if he will ever get to fulfill the promise.

It has the look and feel of a children's movie - but I'm not sure it is, or was ever designed to be. Some of the things that Arnie does as he gets more and more desperate to track down a Turbo man doll for his son are cringe-worthy (I'm thinking particularly of when he stalks a little girl in the ball room at the mall) but they ultimately do function within the larger scope of the film. As the "real" Turbo-Man, Howard uses the opportunity to present a coveted limited-edition Turbo-Man doll to his son in the crowd. When Howard misses his son Jamie's karate practice, he makes peace by promising him a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. Not to mention that for some odd reason they put Sinbad in this movie, sorry to say but he is just not funny, actually no body, even one of the best voice actors of all time: Phil Hartmen. Every person who`s planning a materialistic Christmas (that means everybody)ought to see this brilliant movie.

Meanwhile, at the parade, Ted attempts to flirt with Liz, but she turns him down by hitting him with a thermos of eggnog. Sinbad is also pretty fun to in a fun little antagonist kind of way, but the best supporting actor throughout the film has to be Phil Hartman with his sleazy divorced husband character. The scenes with Arnie at the warehouse filled with Santas and elves was funny, and it had a good ending with the father becoming the hero after all.

Intrada Music Group released a Special Collection limited edition of Newman's full 23-track score on November 3, 2008. You see some movies don't need to be reviewed, you just need to watch them first, and then judge your feelings. Over 18 years after the release of the original film, a stand-alone sequel, Jingle All the Way 2, was released straight-to-DVD in December 2014.
