About this deal

Such is the rhythm of the 35-year-old actor’s memoir, subtitled “The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard”: After offering many a rote recollection from the saga, he summons his demons and delves deeper in the final pages. And perhaps most poignantly, he discusses the lasting relationships he made over that decade of filming, including with Emma Watson, who started out as a pesky nine-year-old whom he mocked for not knowing what a boom mic was but who soon grew into one of his dearest friends. It’s a beautiful memoir — with a forward by Emma Watson herself — that captures the heart, charm, and wittiness of the man beyond the wand. I really loved that Felton hit the nail on the head when it comes to talking about mental health, and especially when it comes to talking about mental health in men.

My dog and my family and friends keep me far too busy to go into exactly what people have said or not said. i love his little laughs every now and then, and he has a natural talent for storytelling that is warm and welcoming. It almost feels like Tom was too self obsessed to learn anything about these awesome people or to learn something from them. Being a fan of Harry Potter, why wouldn’t I read this biography of one of the key characters in the book?

And yeah, I realized pretty fast that Tom Felton was nothing like Draco Malfoy, but still, I admired him for portraying Draco so well. He and I were often to be found outside the stage that housed the Astronomy Tower, having 'a breath of fresh air' as we referred to it .I think we all — in fact, I know we all — when we finished the filming, we fully expected the Potter fandom to sort of start dwindling a bit and maybe start to sort of die down. Playing Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy in the Potter movies made Felton a star, but in addition to giving us fun glimpses behind the curtain of fame, Felton shows how stardom came dangerously close to ruining his life. Michael Gambon is the subject of a charming story from the filming of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” when he and Felton shared a smoke between takes of Dumbledore’s death scene. In conversation for this unique live event, Tom will reflect on his early rise to fame – a career that began with the Borrowers and a childhood that was anything but ordinary. Hearing his stories of growing up in the limelight, albeit not as strong as some of his costars, was very interesting.
