The Manifesto’s ideas should not be dismissed as unoriginal, but rather considered on their own merit. And I think many people—most people—have an intuitive sense that this is true: that the ‘problem of technology’ is very real, and very serious. Feral House published a book written by Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, and believes that there is legitimate thought in the book, but does not condone Kaczynski’s crimes. Virtually every mass media discussion of either Kaczynski or ISAIF is guilty of this ploy; even at the height of the media frenzy, the most one could hope for would be to hear or read a few snippets from the manifesto. The point here, presumably, is that technological society is an irrevocable reality, and any discussion to the contrary is a complete waste of time.

It is incumbent of every country to take measures to ensure that forms of slavery do not persist within its territory. Also, science and technology constitute a power mass movement, and many scientists gratify their need for power through identification with this mass movement. But the green anarchists, anarcho-primitivists, and so forth (The "GA Movement") have fallen under such heavy influence from the left that their rebellion against civilization has to great extent been neutralized. But even if we are wrong, the increasing rate of depression is certainly the result of SOME conditions that exist in today's society. The system’s need for specialized workers (scientists, mathematicians, engineers) puts pressure on children to excel in these fields.
