About this deal

Also worth noting: Legally in his city, and possibly yours, you can't have a campfire on your property unless it's for cooking). In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at the design and features of the Solo Stove Campfire, see how it performs in the field, its durability, and how it stands out on the market.

The Solo Stove Bonfire burns so hot that we were able to just find some downed trees, cut them to size and burn – even though it had just rained and most of it was damp! In May 2023, Out Standing in the Field— the roving dining experience that stages dinners in far-flung locales — used an array of Solo Stove fire pits to keep guests warm after a meal on the beach near Pescadero, CA. So in my Solo Stove Review, let me show you everything you need to know to figure out if the Solo Stove Bonfire (or other Solo Stove sizes) are worth it for your camp set up! Fortunately, the Solo Stove is made from stainless steel so it shouldn’t rust if it gets a little wet. It’s nice and shiny when you take it out of the box, but don’t be disappointed when it gets a brown patina after you first use it.It would seem like it would burn more wood but the Solo Stove Bonfire actually just burns much more of the wood than a traditional wood-burning fire pit. Only fits small pieces of wood: Unlike other stoves from Solo Stove, the Campfire can only fit small pieces of wood. I was nervous it would affect the Solo Stove’s stainless steel body, so we did small amounts of water at a time.

It’s handy if you want to use a Solo Stove again because it’s enough to put some fuel and get your fire roaring in no time later.

Solo Stove's claim to fame as the "smokeless" fire pit is quite impressive, and we have found that it holds up as long as you follow the instructions on how you should build your fire. The stove features a steel mesh on the bottom which keeps the fuel off the base and improves airflow. That’s not too bad compared to stoves like the Jetboil that have 1-quart boiling times of just over 3 minutes. That rising hot air adds oxygen to the burn chamber, making the fire burn hotter and eliminating the smoke.

This stove is extremely compact and portable, making it extremely easy to bring camping or on your next road trip.

Solo Stove is best known for their line of fire pits that were designed for backyard and residential use.

If you’re lucky enough to use the Solo Stove on a sunny, warm day, you’ll most likely have completely dry fuel. However, they’re not the thing you can bring and start wherever, whenever – be it due to local restrictions, poor weather, or unsuitable spots. It's not very easy to move unless you've got another adult to help you haul it, so our tester says it's best to choose where you want it to live long-term and set it there. The ring is made of the same material and is designed to be put on the top or inside the fire pit for compact storage. If you were an owner of the original Solo Stove Bonfire, it might be nice to know that it now comes with a removable ash pan, making it super easy to clean. And with kids, we especially like fire pits that are raised up more than fire rings we just make ourselves with rocks since they tend to be harder for the kids to see when they’re running around camp. They've evaluated their fire pits on their build quality, how easy they are to use, clean and cook with, their available accessories and the flames they produce.
