Precisely formed to tight tolerances, Sennheiser says these chambers make even the finest textures of a listener’s music audible by eliminating masking resonances that – in lesser headphones – can obscure higher frequencies. The IE600 use standard MMCX connectors, and the angled design makes it easy to connect and detach the cables. The amorphous metal housing is made out of a zirconium alloy that Sennheiser says is three times harder than steel and naturally resistant to corrosion and scratches.

Sennheiser has made significant progress with their IEM lineup, and with the introduction of the IE600, I can confidently predict that they will begin to dominate the IEM market. To achieve a natural sound reminiscent of the neutrality provided by high-end studio monitors, Sennheiser engineers carefully tuned the acoustic back volume inside the nozzle of the IE600.

This helps to boost the upper frequency performance but the reduction in cross section would notionally lead to a drop in bass output. The IE 600 integrates dual two chamber absorbers (D2CA) which capture and attenuate these masking frequencies, revealing even the finest textures of your music. The lustrous design combined with the diminutive size makes the IE600 distinctive, and these are the most comfortable IEMs I've used. The Sennheiser has been tested using a Chord Electronics Mojo2 with and without a Poly running as a Roon Endpoint attached and a Lenovo T15P ThinkPad (again using Roon) and 2021 iPad Pro (running Qobuz) acting as a source. I foam options offer better isolation and fit a little more snug in my ear, so that's what I went with.
