About this deal

Especially if someone else is doing it, and you get to just read about it, curled up by a fireplace). I think way back when I was starting out [acting], there were a lot of pressures to look a certain way,” he told WBUR. I just naively assumed that a cameraman would sick a camera in someone's face and after some editing, BOOM, a movie.

So when people ask me, have you ever climbed a mountain, after reading this and listening to the audiobook, I will say, “Yes. Planned on a whim, completely overpacked (although those walking sticks did come in handy), and requiring multiple days of travel in less than ideal conditions, Sam uses this time to find himself and reconnect with the world around him. The stories about acting school and his struggles and wins as he went after his career are honest and from the heart.

To celebrate the publication of his first full memoir, Waypoints, Sam will be live in conversation, exploring his Scottish heritage and reflecting on the personal waypoints that define him. Sam Heughan aka Jaime Frasier from Outlander woke up one morning and decided he wanted to walk the West Highland Way, a hiking path across Scotland. Heughan and Madden ran into each other at a party, and emotionally, it seems it was Heughan’s very own red wedding. In this intimate journey of self-discovery, Sam sets out along Scotland's rugged ninety-six-mile West Highland Way to map out the moments that shaped his views on dreams and ambition, family, friendship, love, and life. After reading Clanlands and the Almanac, I guess I was under the impression that this would be more about genealogy and personal history, rather than a journey to gain perspective.

It, too, will teach you about the acting business, Heughan’s lifetime experiences from childhood and beyond that defined him as a person, and of course, the gorgeous landscapes of Scotland and their historical importance. Assistance dogs may be taken into the concert hall where there are a limited number of suitable seats in row G of the stalls. Heughan and his brother enter someone’s house in Canada, and you soon start to think they might be at a fan’s house, as Heughan discovers a DVD of a movie he’s in on the shelves.

Especially one who is established in a series of books where fans could study the character and rip apart an actors portrayal of said character. Intimate, thoughtful and fascinating, don’t miss the opportunity to join Sam as he presentsadeeply personallove letter to the wild Scottish landscape that means so much tohim. Highly recommend the audio because ACCENT and he even has some audio recordings from his hike that include the sounds of nature around him. I would like to think of this as a beautiful gift that we have been given, though I am pretty sure this was more for himself than his fans. I found health and community and friendships through outlander and MPC groups that I still benefit from to this day.

Sam’s love of nature definitely comes across and it’s inspired me to perhaps attempt this myself one day to take in the sights! He attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) located in Glasgow, Scotland. What strikes me most though, is that no matter how wonderful a job, his single mother accomplished in raising two young boys, his late father has a lot to answer for.I would have probably given this book five stars just because I’m such a huge fan of Sam Heughan but after reading it I’m giving it five stars because it’s so good! To celebrate the publication of his first full memoir, Waypoints,Sam will be live in conversation, exploringhis Scottish heritageandreflecting on thepersonal waypoints that define him. It’s not mentioned in the book, but he’s endured years of online abuse, been stalked, received death threats, criticised for the way he looks, all of which has taken a terrible toll on his mental health.

It doesn’t take much for me to realize that perhaps I should apply the same approach to relationships.

I really enjoyed recording the journey – please excuse the questionable accents and random jabbering!
