About this deal

Also the flashback storyline didn't really work for me either, it was long and drawn out and then just. The characters are on a weekend getaway where hidden tensions escalate and long-held secrets threaten to destroy relationships. One final, luxurious week and she can leave the dangerous, difficult escort world, because Dora has fallen in love and is ready to embrace a better future. She was not ashamed of what she did and always stood up for the fact that it is just her job, it doesn't make her less or dirty. Although being rich has never really mattered to Dora, being valued does and in Evan, she has found someone she loves and trusts and she accepts his proposal.

S. Geological Survey, leading to “immediate suspension of the National Volcano Early Warning System,” and there’s always someone around looking to monetize the natural disaster and the sasquatch-y onslaught that follows. One Last Secret intrigued me immediately with the conversational writing style and the fact that Dora is an escort, but as the story goes on it just gets better and better. I think it was the way the story was told, Dora is an unflinchingly honest narrator and at times it read like she was confessing her sins. A female sex worker decides to take one last job before retiring from the profession, but everything goes wrong. Like a confessional, Dora makes it clear that her life is not glamorous and that she accepts the criticisms behind her profession.Dora quits her job but her old client Daniel she’s seen for 6 months need her help to attend a celebration party of his colleague at a chateau in South France.

One last client A week at a beautiful chateau in the south of France—it should be a straightforward final job for Dora. She walks to the hotel, seeing the red flags after meeting with the man wearing the mask who is about to give her more than black eye! Dora and fiancé cover up murder and/or self-defense homicide by burning down mansion which was also fiancé’s family summer home. No more needs to be said on the plot as it’s better going in blind but my heart was racing for Dora and the life and death situation she gets herself into. She is the author of 22 bestselling novels including the Sunday Times and eBook Number One bestseller Both Of You.At the same time, I applauded the way Parks presents Dora’s work and think this frankness makes her a more likeable character: she doesn’t disguise this line of work is widely criticised, but acknowledges there still is a need for what she does. But the biggest problem is that this narrative is framed as a mystery without delivering the pleasures of a mystery. It is someone she really would never want to meet again, yet her clarity of thought is letting her down – she is usually at the top of her game, astute and incisive when she needs to act.

As a ‘lady of the night’, Dora’s frank, blunt narrative is very honest and it felt like she was talking directly to me as a reader. What didn't work for me was how smart and savvy Dora was in certain situations and how absolutely stupid she was in others. There are several twists and turns although one is easy to figure out but not entirely the reasons behind it.
