About this deal

The AF motor is fast but the focus ring doesn’t provide a super smooth experience in comparison to other lenses. A passionate photographer since her 14th birthday, she loves macro, butterflies, instant cameras and taking pictures of people at events.

Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 12mm f/2 ED CSC Lens Review

Contrary to our expectations, we found that the 12-40mm is actually slightly sharper in the corners between f/2. Mu-43 is a fan site and not associated with Olympus, Panasonic, or other manufacturers mentioned on this site. Ethics statement: We were provided with a sample of the 12mm for a three-week loan period and used to own the lens back in 2013.AF speeds were extremely fast, with the lens locking on to the subject almost instantly in most cases. I love golden wheat fields and even though I knew they would be all blurred in this shot I did not care, the tractor drill gives this shot the perfect leading line to the lighthouse and the Milky Way.

The single RAWs have a color gradient different for each shot (some tend to red, others to blue, green, cyan etc), those images where captured using in-camera time lapse timer. This lens introduces a dual fly by wire focus system with a snap back focus ring, snapped forward in manual focus mode the focus will continue to move freely and continuously, snapped back you get a lock to lock focus ring from 20mm to infinity. Duologi is a trading name of Specialist Lending Ltd, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (register number 774712 ). With the lens wide open, you can see some light fall-off in the corners (see the macro test shot below for an example). There are no switches or control surfaces on the lens other than the focus ring - all lens functions are controlled by the camera. As we touched upon in the design section, you can switch between AF and MF by using physical controls on the barrel – the Snapshot focus ring on the Olympus and the AF/MF switch on the Panasonic. Fisheye: another one we haven’t tried is the first fisheye designed for the system (if my memory serves me well).

Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm f/2 vs 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO – Apples vs Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm f/2 vs 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO – Apples vs

CA is slightly noticeable in this lens, in the corners; according to the test charts, it's more obvious when then lens is stopped down compared to wide open, but I think that's a symptom of corner shading slightly obscuring the color shift.aperture which lets you work in low light conditions while avoiding the higher ISO values, but it is up to you to decide whether if this characteristic alone is worth the extra expense. Note: The GF-1 actually compensates for color fringing and distortion in camera when shooting JPEGs.

Review: Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm f/2 - Admiring Light Review: Olympus M.Zuiko 12mm f/2 - Admiring Light

The primary purpose of wide angle lenses isn’t to yield a beautiful bokeh, so we must be realistic in our expectations about the capabilities of these two lenses.aperture of f/2 is certainly fast with respect to light gathering but don't expect wonders in terms of depth-of-field - in the MFT scope you are are effectively "loosing" about two f-stops so it "behaves" like a "24mm f/4" here.
