Playing to a packed crowd, the band roused the crowd to sing along to music hall classics, while party hats were handed out to get folks in the mood. In 1975, her distinctive style of performance was satirised in an edition of BBC TV's The Two Ronnies, originally broadcast on BBC Two on 23 January 1975. Mrs Gladys Mills was remembered for her sense of fun, and her album covers were rarely serious affairs, as this collection testifies.Mrs Mills was discovered while working as the superintendent of the typing pool in the Paymaster General’s office in London in the early 60s. Her uncle Henry was a harpist and her mother was the main influence in developing her musical ability. Her catchy piano style and jolly, happy-go-lucky personality won over a talent scout who saw her performing at a Woodford Golf Club dance near her Essex home in Loughton in December 1961. The Mrs Mills Experience, a London based tribute band to the singalong piano thumping genius of Mrs Gladys Mills, pianist extraordinaire.

On Sat 9th June, the band played their first festival show on the main stage of the London Nocturne 2012 at Smithfield Market, Farringdon. On 13 July, they were filmed playing live at The Prince Albert pub in Brixton, London Borough of Lambeth by the BBC. Barker and Corbett performed a medley of Mills-style classics revolving around John Mills' character in the 1969 film Oh! The song reached number 18 in the charts and was the first piano medley to bother the Top 20 since Russ Conway’s Christmas ivory-tinkler in 1959.Little was seen of Mills on television in her final years, and she died of a heart attack on 24 February 1978 in London. Her music harked back to music halls, communal singalongs, the wartime spirit and evenings by a roaring fire in smoky, boozy pubs. The band played to a packed house, and went down a storm, with the crowd singing along with gusto and positively demanding an encore! Keen to bring the might of Mrs Mills to the masses, the band have embarked on a small tour of unconventional - some may say confrontational - slots at various venues around London. Gladys Mills (née Gladys Jordan) then embarked on a career that lasted well into the 1970s, with her jaunty pub piano renditions of popular and traditional songs like, “The Lambeth Walk,”“Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”, “Hello, Dolly!
