About this deal

Cole's ( The Trouble with Uncle ) latest creation is Supermoo, a heroic heifer determined to protect Earth. It is the behaviour of Mr and Mrs Hormone which is responsible for and plays havoc with the physical and emotional states of girls and boys in puberty. Hair In Funny Places : Paperback : Penguin Random House Children's UK : 9780099266266 : : 11 Dec 2001 : Girls and boys are always curious and sometimes even alarmed by the behaviour of their bodies as they grow up. Puberty being a particularly unsettling time, Babette Cole has made this the subject of the fifth title in her bestselling series of 'family dilemmas'.

My 10-year-old step-daughter was equal parts horrified and amused for the same reasons, especially as we've reached the point where we can maturely and comfortable discuss puberty in our house without any hangups (on EITHER side) or sugar-coating. With her irresistible illustrations and wonderfully funny text, who better to guide us through all things hairy than the brilliant Babette Cole. She spent much of her life in Lincolnshire, before moving to Kent and then westward through Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. In a wacky follow-up to The Trouble with Mom, Dad is bored with his job and starts fiddling around with robots, much to Mom's consternation. But it is the frankness and simplicity of the text that really bites, encouraging an understanding of one of the most difficult phases in a human being's life. In spite of the promise of this book's title, nothing could prepare the reader for the wackiness inside. There is one illustration of a bikini clad young woman with a "grown up body" walking down the beach smiling while getting ogled by two young men which I found very disturbing. This made it grow big and small whenever it wanted"") and nocturnal emissions (""some sticky stuff actually came out"").

Cole ( Supermoo ) unleashes her endearingly loony sense of humor on the subject of the birds and the bees, and the result is, as expected, hilarious. For young girls, with the exception of getting taller, the whole book focuses on the negatives of puberty. The book is bound to be controversial but Babette has never taken the conventional path and her readers love her for her outrageous approach to little mentioned topics.Puberty being a particularly unsettling time, Babette Cole has made this the subject of the fifth title in her bestselling series of family dilemmas'. Cole firmly believed in children's right to knowledge about their own bodies and the accompanying pictures are never vulgar. This shows both boys and girls undergoing changes, in a funny way , with comical illustrations and second person narrative. Puberty can seem dreadful or traumatic to children, and I think the wacky style slights or ridicules the intended reader. Girls and boys are always curious and sometimes even alarmed by the behaviour of their bodies as they grow up.

Who else but Babette would have the temerity to tackle this subject in a picture book and the genius to carry it off! This book could never be used alongside SRE or Science to help explain the process of puberty because it is full of misleading and really quite unusual information. Hilarious illustrations of Mr and Mrs Hormone wreaking their revenge on the body, mixing their "Essence of Pube" and making mischief in the unsuspecting bodies of boys and girls as they fight their way towards adulthood will certainly raise a smile. Varmasti siitä syystä ehdotin kirjaa 7-vuotiaalle esikoiselleni, sillä tämä on samalla hauska tapa oppia paljon ihmisenä (fyysisesti) kasvamisesta. Gleeful as ever in her cataloguing of gas-passing, nose-picking and other improprieties, Cole (The Bad Good Manners Book) introduces an almost incorrigible child.

Book for Girls Written by experienced educator and her daughter in a reassuring and down-to-earth style, The "What's Happening to My Body? The trouble with Gran is that, beneath her grandmotherly exterior, she's an alienand a rather lively, headstrong one at that. It can be used to have or start conversations with kids about growth and changes ( physical and emotional), body positivity , consent and safety, reproduction.

In Hair in Funny Places Cole hits home again in a canny little volume which takes a sideways glance at what happens to the body when it is hit by puberty. Brandishing her outrageously sly sense of humor, Cole (Mommy Laid an Egg) tweaks the topic of puberty in all of its glory, with predictably boisterous results. Mom wears funny pointed hats with rats riding on the brim, and when she makes cupcakes they explode, which the neighborhood kids love, and their parents hate. Here, in response to a girl's query to her teddy bear about the process of growing up, she whips up ""Mr. I really didn't care for the illustrations in this book, and the way it was written was actually mildly annoying (Mr.
