Design-wise, the Fitbit Charge 2 is much the same as other Fitbit devices, and feels a little like the lovechild of the Charge HR and the Fitbit Surge.

Fitbit claims that the Fitbit Charge 2 offers up to five days of battery life, and while we didn’t get quite that much when reviewing it, we were making extensive use of all its features. Each part of the strap can be detached by pulling it out of clips on either side of the tracker, if you want to swap-in a different one for a style change and there's a good range of accessories for the Charge 2 to choose from. James is often testing out and reviewing the latest and greatest mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets, virtual reality headsets, fitness trackers and more. This can be handy if you want to sell or give away your Charge 2 and don't want any traces of your data hanging around.Sleep tracking has also been improved for the Fitbit Charge 3, and further updates later this year will add a Sleep Score to the mix.

While your tracker charges, double-tap the screen (or press the button on Charge 6) to turn it on and check the battery level. Alternatively, there’s a special edition model which adds Fitbit Pay support and comes with a white perforated silicone band or a purple woven band. When 1 day or less of battery life remains, a battery icon appears on your device as you tap through your stats. Place the Fitbit Charge 2 into its charging cradle, and then connect the USB cable to a power source.When turning Flyer on or off, listen for the audio notification telling you the current battery level. There's a button on the left-hand side of the tracker that you use to skip through the menu options, such as steps, time, heart rate and calories; you can hold this button down to activate certain features as well. The touchscreen proved a little unresponsive at times during our review, but we never found it particularly frustrating – you just need to give it an extra tap sometimes.
