About this deal

The Color Monster is one of my absolute favorite stories as a Pre-K teacher to talk with students about emotions. Young children may not be able to tell you exactly what they are feeling, but they can use the concepts in this book to help express themselves. We say “boogers” anytime there is too much or extra of something (paper boogers when they rub the brush back and forth when painting, clay boogers when they draw too hard, etc. This online activity presents the perfect opportunity to get little ones acquainted with the technology.

Indeed, on the final page the story doesn't explicitly spell out how the monster feels so children can have fun guessing and questioning what it 'feels' like to be in love! It would also be more helpful if you provided a copy of the original document instead of a picture of the document.I try to be very transparent with what is in the free download and include a picture of both of the worksheets - again to be as transparent in what is included in this free download.

What you sent looks like a great picture of the resource, but the actual sheets that our students can use would help a lot. Once your learners have completed the writing task, invite them to share their memories with the class and connect with others.

Have each child choose a square from the corresponding pile of colored emotions squares to paste into their jar. To craft these cute monsters, you’ll need nothing more than empty toilet rolls, brightly-colored paints, scissors, and a black marker. I am organization obsessed, coffee loving, playful therapist who is showing up for life in the north woods of Minnesota.

I think it's great to teach feeling identification, but odd to tell kids how to feel about certain colors. The colour monster, at first, has no way of organising his thinking or feelings and it takes a wiser, more reflective hand, to sort them out and guide him through them.

I love this book It was on a list of suggested books when I was taking my early childhood education classes. Are some feelings darker (like pressed down harder when drawing) and what feeling are more prevalent? Everyone will enjoy sharing this concept book that taps into both socio-emotional growth and color concepts in a simple, friendly way.

One of my favorite things to tell young people is that f eelings aren’t good or bad– they are just our bodies way of letting us know what is going on in the world around us! This hands-on activity enforces this notion visually by having learners attach colorful felt squares to a Color Monster cut-out. A little, highly accessible exploration into different feelings that a child can experience and associating them with colours not only teaches children that having these feelings is normal but also that (through the rather wonderful little girl) you never need to be alone when you're experiencing them.
