Bouillon–pronounced "BOOL-yone –is a clear, flavorful broth made by simmering beef, chicken or vegetables and other ingredients.
If you plan to concentrate the liquid, only add a small amount of salt to begin and add more after concentrating it so you don’t accidentally over-salt it. Vegetable bouillon skips the animal proteins and just uses produce, which can include vegetables such as carrots, onion and celery. I like to mix beef bouillon cubes in with my mashed potatoes -- with just a pinch of consommé and butter.
Bouillon cubes come in a few different varieties, and beyond that, each brand puts its own spin into the cubes with an array of spices. TBHQ (preservative) This product is made on equipment that also processes wheat, milk, eggs, soy, shrimp, and fish. This soup is very popular at Japanese teppanyaki restaurants and involves a light broth with mushrooms and onions.As it does, the fat melts into the sauce creating a deeply flavoured gravy, and keeps the meat succulent, basting it as it melts.
