It's really just mind boggling how this was ever approved, let alone written, let alone the first in a SERIES of books? Be warned: Certain answers may cause you to ask yourself if you have any future with this other person. This alphabetical collection of four sentence rhymes revels in the torture of children with no purpose or payoff.
His main areas of study are in abnormal, social, and personality psychology, with a particular interest in the psychology of religious and ideological belief, and the assessment and improvement of personality and performance. Everything about it is just demented and only someone really twisted can think up something like that. Peterson has the gall to compare his work to the likes of Edward Gorey and Neil Gaiman but that is an absolute insult to their creative genius and consistent hard work. Sounds more like “An ABC of Irony and Hypocrisy” now when Peterson has a contract with The Daily Wire and shakes hands over the dinner table with Shapiro and Netanyahu who organize and/or sponsor the shelling of Palestinian children every other day. There is only one stanza per child, which is particularly disappointing because the talent and thematic potential for this being more highly rated is there. Each page turn features a quick little 4 line verse about a bad kid and a photorealistic drawing by Juliette Fogra (who also does some fantastic design work on the book).
It would appear Fogra is also infatuated with Peterson's politics, which is arguably worse than sexual.
Most of the poems in this book are just like this one, but some of them are more uncomfortable, given the topics they deal with. More haunting still is the realization that, though of course the cases are fictionalized and rendered in poetic form, they're inspired by Peterson's decades of clinical work. Indeed, readers of these genres will be equally attracted to this book as readers of Peterson's work in general. He subsequently became involved in several public debates about the bill that received significant media coverage.
It's unclear how much collaboration Juliette Fogra had with the author but in an interview she equated him with Saint Anthony being tortured by a demon (an image used in the book) so it can safely be assumed she is infatuated with him sexually. This is something entirely different: a short collection of twenty-six brief poems, each of which is accompanied by an illustration by Juliette Fogra.Combined with the accompanying poems, they achieve a sort of macabre and horrifying beauty that is seldom achieved even within the genres of horror or tragedy, of which I am quite the connoisseur. The real horror here, is that the description to sell the book is longer and more thought out than the “book” itself. But somehow these poems (they are not poems) do not say anything, do not raise any emotional response, they are baffling in their utter worthlessness. There is nothing witty or poetic about this book, it's just a collection of absolute garbage which talks about real human issues with no compassion, no logic and of course no other purpose than to prove that Jordan Petersen is just an awful human being. Husbands, ask your wives: What bothered you more, the terrible prose, the poor centering, the general sense of gesture without meaning, or the fact that the author is a bigot who talks like Kermit the Frog?
