About this deal

The build’s over almost as quickly as you start, but for a vehicle that we were shocked to see get even a second set in 2017, it still feels fresh the third time around. The new rendition combines features from its predecessors and makes clever use of the X-wing canopy introduced during 2015, accurately recreating the shape of the thick frontal armour. I would make the correlation between Commander Thunder and Lightning Squadron, but Lightning Squadron is a part of the 91st whereas Thunder is from the 187th. The purple clones existed beforehand and were acknowledged as canon at the time of the toy's release, and appeared in multiple toy lines; they were not a one-off mistake and they were not non-canon at the time.

I heard that the commander's name is Thunder, but I don't remember the source so it may have been someone just imagining a name. i can easily fix the texture issues on the sides, the gaps on the front and the apace for a minifig in the top hatch. The LEGO Group's commitment to recreating the Star Wars universe is evident in the attention to detail and quality of this set. There was no obligation for LEGO to provide Mace Windu, nor to include appropriate Clone Troopers for a specific Jedi general. Whatever the case, under Disney’s thumb, the CGI series is still canon, while Tartakovsky’s run is not. This might be the first instance of purple as his signature color, excluding the lightsaber blade, since his Ep2 starfighter was fairly generic ( 7868). The lookout for the Clone Commander on top provides a strategic advantage, allowing for better coordination and planning during combat. I would love to see Ponds in minifig form, but I doubt that would ever happen since he was only in two Clone Wars arcs excluding the Windu assassination. Republic Fighter Tank comes in at 10cm tall, 20cm long and 16cm wide, which places it between both two previous versions in scale and size. This brick-built tank allows kids aged 7 and up to recreate thrilling clashes between Mace Windu's 187th Legion Clone Troopers and the Battle Droids.

Make no mistake, I am satisfied with these minifigures, although this set presented an ideal opportunity to release even more desirable Clone Troopers, especially as there are relatively few Clone Wars sets at the moment. This set is not only a great gift idea but also a fantastic opportunity for children to engage in imaginative play and develop their building skills. You are on the way to becoming a true Jedi of Brick Film, but there is still much to learn, young Padawan.I wasn't being cocky or mean, I was just pointing out that I don't know much about the purple clone troopers because I am not into legends. Dual-molding takes at least as much time for one shot as regular parts do for two, if you want crisp divisions like arms and legs. Purple-armoured 187th Legion Clone Troopers accompany their commanders and maintain certain familiar features from 75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers.

Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction.

I'm only disappointed that the tank itself didn't turn out to have purple highlights in place of the dark red like one rumor had suggested. Okay, now you got me curious, because I have a Hasbro armored Mace Windu action figure (I think it’s based on the CGI series), and the helmet has purple unit markings.

I'm pretty sure dual molding is more expensive than printing because it requires a more intense molding process. Personally, I favour the modern lower-profile version, but the larger cockpit should accommodate more minifigures on this occasion. I like it, it's nice seeing purple on the armor (which weirdly makes the minifigs more valuable to me than being related to Star Wars), and there are some unique parts in the tank. The enormous size of Darth Vader’s personal flagship is highlighted by the 2 Star Destroyers that ’fly’ alongside it. Selecting these non-canonical Clone Troopers, among numerous potentially more prominent options, is surprising though. However, I was disappointed to discover that the riveted panels are formed using large stickers, while additional stickers adorn both flanks. I've always had a soft spot for the fighter tank - I won an old 'custom of the week' on FBTB back in the early days - but come on.
